Post subject:  2011 Jeep Liberty Renegade Fuel Tank Support/Skid Plate

Just got back from my mechanic and he told me that my fuel tank support/skid plate is nearly completely rusted out. It's pretty bad. The part 52125081AE has been discontinued. I cannot find it anywhere, including pick-a-parts.

Are there any viable alternative parts that I can order to replace it. My Jeep has 110k miles and purrs like a kitten, I have no idea what to do to ensure it is safe to drive without the fuel tank falling off. Does anyone have any idea where to find?

The OEM skid plate version of the gas tank hanger rots out. Mine has, and I have found the same on 4 different Renegade Liberties that had it that were in junkyards.

My solution was to get the non-skid plate version from a junkyard (hard to find one that doesn’t get destroyed by the fork lift, but 98% of Kk’s had this so easier to find than the skid plate version. Then I ordered this skid that goes underneath it:

As far as I know, it’s the only one still made anywhere in the world that fits the KK/KL.
