See the thing is, it makes planning very difficult for the one dude who takes on the whole operation. When you're trying to make everyone happy and you're expecting x amount of people who put themselves on the list. How do you know when to leave for the trail when the head count doesn't match? Is the person lost? Should I count on them to be at the raffle and so on. I just think it's common courtesy.
If you were on the "maybe list" and you know as things get closer that you can't put yourself on the "going list" maybe you should remove your name all together. That's a separate issue though.
I just think if you say you're going to be somewhere and real life happens, just say so. I didn't hear him complain but I know that it had to of caused the organizer extra stress not knowing where some of the peeps were.
Now you know and knowing is half the battle.
