Here's more photos from the hunt for Beartown:

Image
Yellowcoyote takes a shelf road up through Stony Gulch toward Stony Pass

Image
The surrounding San Juans

Image
The stop at Stony Pass....which was windier than Hurricane Pass :o
From front/right to back/left are kskj (who was following Durangotang's GF in her Wrangler Unlimited), Yellowcoyote, MtnLuvr, 0311_DoC, JL_Rockies who joined in today, Strikeagle, tskalil, yazhi and Red & Dolly.

Image
I'm told these are mountain sunflowers (not to be confused with the giant sunflowers we grow in Kansas  ). These mountain sunflowers are thriving up on Stony Pass.

Image
View off the backside of Stony Pass, including ....
Image
a herd of sheep being watched by a lone "cowboy" and his sheep herding dog.

Image
Yellowcoyote plows through the first stream crossing on the hunt for Beartown

Image

Image
After all of his mud puddle thrashing on all the other trails, 0311_DoC (in front) seamed a sure-in for the muddiest Liberty during LJS '09 until he hit the two steam crossings at high speed that washed the front of his white KJ off. Knowing 0311_DoC, I'm sure his KJ won't stay white on front for long....

Image
The trail and hunt for Beartown continues upward....

Image
0311_DoC finally comes to a mudhole so he can recover the front of his KJ in mud

Image
Where's that Beartown suppossed to be anyway? Or was it "Bearcity" as was heard over the CB? Perhaps its ruins have been totally consumed by mother nature and the elements.

Image
Reaching the top of the valley where Beartown used to be, tskalil verifies it is not at the far end of Kite Lake by some old mine tailings.

Image
Kite Lake makes a nice relaxing place for lunch and even a dip in cold mountain run-off water for a few.

Image
MtnLuvr loves being up in the mountain high country :D :D :D

Image
After a relaxing lunch break, the group leaves Kite Lake and heads back down through the bush.

Image
kskj smoothly crosses one of the stream crossings

Image
Approaching the back side of Stony Pass again.

Image
Cruisin' back down through Stony Gulch with beautiful scenary everywhere. Another great day of wheelin'.

All photos are so cool and also pretty nice. I think that You have gone for the long journey. I liked it dude. All are awe about that jk's. JK'S had been run so far in the rush area. It had been good stability and also capability to bear more loaded over on it.
