OK so I got back late last night after a full day in the mountains. My gf just bought a brand new Rubicon and this was her first chance to get it dirty...

Just for KSKJ, we had to check out Velocity Basin. Still a little snowy...
Image

It may have been wishful thinking at the time, but we tried Hurricane Pass next and got turned around by snow about half way up...
Image

After turning around we decided to check out Corkscrew Pass... odds were slim that it was open but why not? The weather quickly turned bad (as it does at 11,000ft)
Image

The pass was open with a touch of snow at the top... on the ground AND in the sky...
Image

The way down the backside was a little soupy... but loads of fun

The new Jeep after its first time off road :D

Now that we found ourselves at the Corkscrew Gulch Trailhead, it was time to explore the area by Brown Mountain and the Gray Copper Mine Trail.

Did I mention that she is a new Jeeper? Yes that's a tree in her wheelwell... it was fun to remove

Mining ruins...
Image

We just skirted bad weather most of the trip...
Image

But it turned out to be an awesome way to spend a day...

I'll be keeping you guys updated as the trails melt out!!!

Good pics and update Durango.

i cannot express how jealous i am of all you mountain folks. The mountains give me such peace and to be able to just spend a day away like that . . . man oh man.

Thanx again for the updates as i was just about to call the rangers out of curiosity.

How is it that a man of my stature didn't warrant an invitation?

This was a spur-of-the-moment thing... if you want to set something up and head down this way that would be awesome... plenty of open trails just now :D

It'll be colder... not a big deal when the sun is out but if the weather takes a turn there's potential to get snowed on. Normally I just bring a raincoat and a hoody and I'm fine :D
