Post subject: | Safari Day 2 Report.... Adventures of Puff the Mountain Dog |
So a bigger group headed out today to connect Corkscrew Pass, Hurricane Pass, California Pass, and the Animas Forks ghost town. Storms threatened the entire day and the weather was officially crazy. We were, however, not led astray by Puff the mountain dog... MtnLvr climbing corkscrew pass... After the lightning, Lake Como... The group had to bail of Poughkeepsie Gulch for the day due to weather... but we'll be back in a couple of days... with more dogs Kskj heads up to California Pass. After the crazy storms, Puff led us to Animas Forks for lunch. The Mill. Red, Yahzi, and Phoebe (the other mountain dog) enjoy some lunch of a ghost town porch. Stay tuned for Day 3!! |

Here's a few more photos from today: Durangotang leading us upward (with tskalil and kskj behind him) First stop Colorful and varied scenary yellowcoyote cruisin' up past snow bank kskj and MtnLuvr (both lowlanders from Kansas) hanging out up in the mountains more beautiful scenary reaching new heights (at least until later in the week) for some KJs and a KK Easy cruisin' down a valley to Animas Forks when you look at these old ruins, they really are in black & white Even when it was raining on us, often there was still some sunshine to be seen One last stop before splitting into different groups going different places... |

Post subject: | Side Trip up Maggie Gulch |
After the group run today, kskj, yellowcoyote and MtnLuvr took a side trip up Maggie Gulch: sorry, didn't get a photo of the marmot that ran up the trail after kskj for awhile.... Got to look up close at some cool old equipment apparently used in some post-processing of the mining operation in this valley at one time not too long after Silverton on the way back to Ouray... |

Hey, now this all looks familiar! Hurricane and California pass are so amazing. We love to visit Animas Forks every summer... but then if we could have a second house it would be in Silverton. Great pics! I hope to join you folks in the future. |
