Post subject: | Safari Day 3 Report... 12 hours of Engineered Cinnamon |
All we know thus far is that we felt safe with Phoebe the bush dog looking after us... (seen here... in a bush) The mighty group met up at 9am once again with plans of a looooooooooooong day... 70 miles of trail!!! The trail was up Mineral Creek to the Engineer Pass trail all the way to Lake City. Then we head down the Cinnamon Pass Trail to the Carson Ghost Town and all the way back to Ouray. The group airs down for a long day in the driver's seat. MtnLvr starting the long climb... (this was before he decided to drive off the trail ) Some fun obstacles along the way... Troysterr got to test his locker out. Climbing the narrow shelf road to the top of Engineer Pass Red's Jeep seems oddly happy up here Many miles later... the Carson Ghost Town... People were getting grouchy by this point Some cool sights along the way. Trying to beat the sunset and make it off of the shady side of Cinnamon Pass. Daniel posing in the sunset.... Heading back to Ouray from Cinnamon Pass... ready for some chow and sleep... Enjoy!!! |

Here's some more photos, with some quicky captions as time permits before hitting the trail again today: MP Jeeper cruisin' up a shelf road in Mineral Gulch 0311_DOC navigating the trail Cruisin' toward blue sky.... First group "official" stop. I don't know what the black 4-legged wild animal is ...... Durangotang, tskalil, yellow coyote and 0311_DOC navigating a switchback in the high country The beautiful scenery was a perfect backdrop... Durangotang and tskalil driving the ridgeline (no caption necessary) Group stop checking out the scenery from a lookout peak Ya think much snow falls up here during the colder months? Descending into another beautiful valley Came upon this old dam and then saw.... ...this marmot running across the top of it to get away from all the people (and dogs) Always interesting how these old ruins won't photograph in color The lowering sun is only adding to the visual contrasts and appeal tskalil's KJ parked up on a beautiful mountain pass as the sun is contemplating setting MP Jeeper with his dual recovery dog options ready to go The sun is getting low as we're still making our way to Silverton where many of us stopped for dinner (before dodging deer and elk on the drive back to Ouray in the dark) |
