Ugh, four days and ARB needs to send me the mounting system for the front bumper before Thursday morning. Without that I can't mount the front bumper and since my old bumper is sitting off to the side of the Jeep and is likely not going to fit back on the KJ I don't have a street legal Jeep. :? My only hope for bringing the KJ is likely going to be working with Trailquest to get the part that was left out of my kit overnighted.

Oh no you don't. Just get yourself a 5' piece of 2x10 and some simple metal tabs and get down to TN! (oh, don't forget to wood screew the license back on the bumper)

Just got tentative word that the missing part for my bumper shipped via overnight delivery. With any luck I'll have the part tomorrow and can finish the bumper install Wednesday night/Thursday morning. Worst case scenario is that I get the part Thursday morning, mount the bumper enough to be legal but not pretty, take off for TN Thursday mid-day, and finish the install at the in-laws house Thursday night.

The Smittybilt XRC-8 Comp Winch (with 94' of 5/16" Dyneema SK-75 Ultra-12 Yale single braid 8000 lbs. synthetic line) is mounted on the WARN Front Receiver Mount Winch Cradle, which is secured to the Front Receiver Hitch with a MasterLock locking receiver hitch pin. I haven't had time to run the Quick-Disconnect yet, but the winch is currently wired up semi-permanently (making the portability of it somewhat limited right now...)

Hopefully Fri morning when I get in, I'll finish the wiring so the unit can be stored in the cargo area when not needed (as opposed to hanging off the nose effecting the approach angle...)

Thanks to Mitch for his proof of concept that it really could work... :D

BTW, the actual synthetic rope listed above is the real name of the line provided with the XRC-8 Comp Winch. It sells for about $2/ft. through sail rigging distributors and there are articles online telling how to attach metal eye-hooks, etc. Though rated at 8,000 lbs, in this application, it actually has a tensile strength of 13,500 lbs and only weights 2.8lbs/100' length.

Whew, talk about last minute. I finished my installs about 10 minutes ago and we leave in 1 hour. Install is complete enough to bring the KJ down to ECS. Had to cheat and not hook up my additional offroad lights (although if I have time on Friday I may wire them up) and didn't put the fog light shrouds on the bumper. All those things are minor though.
