I've been on Craigslist/Zillow and several other sites for the past month and a half. Also I'm not using a Real Estate agent, the one yesterday just happened to be owned by one.
I'm looking within a 45 minute drive of Columbus, so it takes in most all 'burbs including Hillard, Galloway, Pickerington, Reynoldsburg, Canal Winchester, Lewis Center, Worthington , Westerville, Dublin, New Albany, Pataskala, Powell. I'll have to be in the main office 3-4 times a months for meetings and its on the Northeast side just inside the 270 loop. Would look at Lancaster but I know what that drive is like. I'll pay a little more rent to save gas.
Also I'll be doing some work in 5 county area just north and west of Columbus so no need to drive extra to get to them for inspections.

Paying more in rent doesn't get you better tax break as mileage driven. What about Delaware or Plain City?

Tom look at marysville as well. Little further out but still a country town for the most part

Tax breaks whats that? Sorry still would rather live closer due to a couple of others in my life.
If it was only me I'd be in the place for rent on Choctaw Lake, water front with covered slip, nice big garage , bedrooms all face the water ....
But I have two people who have never driven in the US before, so trying to stay within a reasonable distance of everything to make it easier on them.
Marysville is out, hate that area for some reason.
Looked at Delaware, actually looked at one there yesterday but quite a jaunt for my wife if she gets anything downtown area / OSU.
Plus I am needing at least 4 bedrooms or 3 bed with den/ extra living room/ ? for office space, 2 full bath rooms minimum and a kitchen that has space to actually cook in it. Some are only meant for warming up things in the microwave and standing in it to order Pizza. I was in one that you had to actually ask yourself to move so you could turn around in it! :ROTFL:

Thinking more, ......with my son in college hopefully in Columbus, my wife working , I'd need 3 KJs just to keep everyone going if I lived out , closer in busses should be a help.....

Lol. Your asking for a lot in Columbus without having to spend big bucks. That's just the reality of that city. To get everything you want it will be every bit of $2500 mo rent or $400,000 plus to buy. In a decent neighborhood.

Yes thats what I am looking at 1800-2000 at least in rent on the low end.
Is it what I want? NO WAY but then it will be worth it having my family here so in the end......its only money

Dang Tom - thats a lot of compromises you're having to make. But that's the nature of prices in central Ohio compared to the rest of the state. There's a few things I don't like about Northern Ohio, but I do like the lower housing prices and lower taxes too.

When do you have to be out of your current place?

I just signed the papers to sell it, going on the market officially soon of course. I have time to move in a way, but I start work the 5th. So....would like to move it all in one trip and be done, turn keys over to the Realtor and be out of here. Then later come back and sign off. Hate to have things scattered everywhere.
The job has changed somewhat from when we started as far as being a contractual employee. I'm not sure if for the good or bad , but should pan out better for me in the long run I think.

I am as well !! I'll find something down there sometime soon I hope that will be better than this place. In the mean time, will be hanging out in the neighborhood , enjoying life :wink:

Oh its not bad that they want me full time, just a little more freedom working as a consultant for them. But they are giving me a lot of perks so it'll work, plus what they are offering me is enough to make me smile a lot!

Well ............ I knew the last 3 - 4 weeks drive home had been fairly uneventful. That changed last night (Wed. nigt) on the way home from work at midnight in the wife's Grand!
darn DEER !!!!!!!! :evil:

Driving along M52, south of Jasper, and a doe jumped out of the woods, ran along side of the road for 20 ft. then, OUT in the middle of the road! #%&$@#%%&#!!!!!
I thought deer were supposed to be pretty sure on their feet. This one wasn't! As it got to the middle it changed it's mind and went back for the right shoulder. When it did, it's feet went out from under it!
Now ....... this all happened in the blink of an eye! I was slowing (actually, pretty much stomping on the brake! ) but it was too late!
As it went down, I ran over it's leg or legs. I stopped, but as I got out of the Jeep it got up and hobbled back into the woods. I don't think it will make it.
No damage to the Jeep except that weird crappy smell coming from the driver's seat! LOL!

Add another 1 to the list now! That's 6 deer, in 3 different vehicles, in 2 states, in 2 1/2 years! Farmer across and down the road has lived here forever and not hit ONE!!!

PS to Tom: I sent my resume to those guys this morning and they called me this afternoon. Wish that everyone else moved that fast. Had a good phone interview where they actually asked me some tech questions and not just all that "What's your greatest achievement in IT and your biggest failure" crapola. I've got the old fingers crossed about the job. (Only kind of fingers I got.) That place is fifty miles from the family farm and I would enjoy being a weekend country boy for a while. THANK YOU!
