Just from a picture... and a mental image of the washer on the bottom.... it could also have some contact with the upper control arm and the top of the knuckle while going over bumps... :|

OK, now we're getting somewhere...

The washer I'm talking about is a thin steel washer like you'd use on any nut and bolt combo - maybe 1/8" thick. I didn't get a 1/2" blue washer with my arms - and yes I've wondered if the grease will begin leaking out of the boots over time.

Appreciate the info, Chris!

Not all are blue though, ones we're shipping now have no coating , just a steel ring
Nothing needed right above the castle nut really

I saw your response in the Lift section on that other forum and was the reason I asked

So should I call Marlin and ask for those rings/washers? Will there be a "leaking grease" problem if I don't have them?

Good news is this morning I drove a couple hundred miles and the steering is so much more responsive with the new rack & pinion. Everything is so much more solid - I reckon it's due to having an essentially new front end. 20,000 miles on the lift, new steering rack, JBA a-arms. Yup, that'll do it

Well this weekend is already shot. Wife complains about getting things done then makes multiple plans for the 3 day weekend.

I'm not sure which would be easier...letting her have her way or straightening her out. Either way I'm pretty sure I'll lose.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh that's so sweet Chris.

:ROTFL:

For some odd reason I see Skyreach standing there with safety glasses and knee pads just wanting to dive in there somewhere. The only difference his boy will be standing there also dressed in the exact same attire holding the jeep up with his other hand :ROTFL:

His other hand would be punching you in the gut.
