I was looking forward to the trail report and when a group would be going down again this summer, but this is not what anyone wanted to hear!!!. Glad to hear Scott (or anyone!) was right there for you. So, I guess this is not a trail for the faint hearted? Are you going to be able to recover your KJ or is it in the creek forever?

Very glad that they released you from the hospital with just a black eye Jim. I'm really amazed that's all the injuries you had from that tumble. If you need anything please don't hesitate to PM me or shoot me an e-mail at matt_duncan at sbcglobal.com.

Hey guy's just got back from dinner with Towstrap and his wife, Jim is in good spirits and ok just a little black and blue around his one eye! He's a very LUCKEY MAN !!!! I was right behind him when he basisclly fell off of a cliff into a river !!

Here is what I remember happened, I was the last in line on the road, Jim was in front of me slowley crawing down the trail along side of a river that was four jeeps wide and 2 to 4 feet deep in spot's, the cliff was aprox 30 feet down mostly soft wet dirt and grass but real steep !! I was just noticing jims left rear tire was a little to close to the cliff as I looked down to grab my CB mic. and looked back up to say somithing to jim about getting over a little the other way his KJ started to barrel roll over the edge of the 30 foot or so cliff, he rolled two or three times , it was like in slow motion, I couldn't get a word out of my mouth !!
I jumped out of my KJ and slid down the cliff into the water, Jims KJ was resting on it's top in 2 or 3 feet of water I was luckley able to open the passenger's door and found jim had released himself from the seatbelt and had his head above the water in the back seat area I tried pulling him out, after a couple hard pulls he poped out and stood up and said ( Im ok don't worry about it !!) Which is somthing jim would say!! I looked at his face and his right eye and side of his face was swolen and bleeding bad!! I looked up at the cliff and thinking how the hell are we going to get up there, Jim said he was alright, and he managed to climb the cliff himself and got some help from the other guys!! Thank's to every one in our group for helping, I have never seen half a dozen jeeps and one TJ with a trailer hall booty out of some tough terrain that fast, and Mitch for giving me his GPS with the qickest and closest directions to a hosipital!

While Jim and mysef were heading to the hospital all of the guys in our group managed to get ahold of the sheriff and the hosipital and let them know we were coming!! Mitch, Chis, Matt, Dustin and the other half dozen guy's and girl's retreved all 1 TON of jim's tool's ham radio equip. and alot of other stuff jim had inside of his KJ. I managed to get ahold of a Tow company and they got Jim's KJ out of the river and jim is wating to hear back from his insurance company this week !!

Jim had test's and was given a clean bill of heath and released a couple hours later from the hospital !! I thought he might get another black eye from his wife and son's when he got home last night but I think they were all happy and gratefull he was ok!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I did want to say somthing about the jim's KJ's, If jim had not been wearing his seatbelt and and had been in a XJ or a wrangler style jeep I honestly don't know he would of walked away from this situation !! The top and the A & D pillers took an hard and heavy hit and held up, the impact piller's were on the driver's side and I was still able to open the passenger's door under water and get to Jim out, I have seen other vehicle upsided down and just cave or flatten the roof's and pilller's ! I hope Jim get's another KJ and stay's away from cliff's and deep water!!!

Sounds like a super eventful event, glad everyone is alright. Glad you're okay Jim, probably a little bit scary being upside down and under water.
Scott, I know what it's like watching womone in front of you roll. Watched my buddy in high scholl do a 180 then rolled his torino in a ditch...scared me to death, he came alright too.

I can't believe they got it out of there that quick! Any details on how they got it out of there? I figured they'd have to wait until at least the water was down.

Go ahead and tell me that 4x2 dually with slicks on it made it down there! I found a deep part where the water was up to my door handles! (no pictures.....major pucker factor)

Glad your OK. KJ's can be replaced. People can't. Makes me think twice about wheeling by myself.

Wow, I totally missed this thread...just hearing the story makes me shudder. I'm glad you suffered minimal injuries. Nice job getting him out of there and to some medical treatment guys.

This is one thread I won't be showing to the wife, otherwise I could probably stop doing mod's right now...
