While driving at low speeds (under 10mph) the engine stalled, the tach swept across and back to zero, about 5 seconds later the oil light came on with a chime.

I cycled the key off then started it back up- check engine light was on. ran fine for about ten seconds, stalled again, same as before. started it back up and pull into my mothers driveway... checked the oil level- it was fine.

Then tried to start it back up, cranked but would not fire. good strong crank too. after another try it started but seemed to have a little miss to it. shut it back off, restarted it- seemed to run fine. drove it back to my house.. maybe 5 minutes away, drove fine. I drove at low speeds, and a bit higher to see if there was any hesitation or anything like that, ran fine. check light is still on.

I am going to drive it around tomorrow to see if I can duplicate the issue. On monday I will pull it into our shop and pull the codes.

any suggestions on where to look or has anyone experienced anything like this before?

Mine kept stalling at stop signs, stop lights, etc., changed the battery and everything was fine.

the KJ's do strange things when the battery gets weak....it's a good place to start if you still have the original battery.

it is not the original battery, it doesn't look old- but that really says nothing about it being good or bad.

I went for a drive today to see if I could replicate the issue- drove fine.

I remember someone at the august m&g saying something about their KJ stalling when turning a certain direction- cause and repair for this issue?

quick update, CEL is off, which means it is not throwing any active codes.

Then my tires will really rub. How about I keep the lift kit and we call it even?

Stalled a couple times on me again today. Hard restart with smoke out the tailpipe when cranking- smelled like fuel. CEL back on. I am guessing that something is causing a loss in spark, resulting in a flood of the engine. Everyone I have spoken with points toward the battery being the first culprit.

Hopefully I can get it into work tomorrow and run some tests to see what is going on. It is nice working in an auto shop, don't need to go anywhere to get your car looked at.

Crankshaft sensor was faulty. Fixed and runs like a champ.
