wifey says MT/R's are way too loud for her, shocker (if they were just a little louder then I wouldn't be able to hear her whine, two problems solved) Marriage is a compromise, or so I have been told... so here is my solution. get a set of AT tires for the moabs, and pick up a set of steelies to mount the MT/R's on for wheeling. My questions.... What is a decent AT tire? Not looking for great off road performance since I will have the MT/R's for that- but decent off road traction would be nice for some drives. My main concerns on these tires would be road noise (keep the wife happy) and snow/wet performance. Price really isn't much of an issue, but cheaper is always better. Next, where could I find a set of steel wheels for the MT/R's? will any 16" steel wheel from a wrangler work? thanks to everyone for helping me with the lift.... the ride is awesome, and it looks killer. p!nK

You're kidding! After we all just did all that work? LOL. I'm STILL amazed that they fit without hitting the pinch weld! There's SEVERAL decent A/Ts. Some highly recommended models are Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A Toyo Open Country A/T Firestone Destination A/T Yokohama Geolander A/T Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor Man there's just so many more... the selection is just unbelievable. I've personally only had experience with one, the Toyos. They last about 45k miles-ish, are quiet, look great, and have great traction offroad, well... maybe not mud. But I did eventually get out that one time. So I wasn't officially stuck! (I think if I turned off the ESP I'd have been OK)

Depends on what you want to spend I have ran the Firestone Destination ATs and the Kumho KL78s both good all around tire , both real quiet, wore pretty good , well I ran both sets about 20,000 plus and then sold them but both had over 1/2 tread left. BFG ATs are great as well quiet, wear great and lots of people swear by them Oh and 265-70s are about the same height as 245-75s and look good on the Moabs

Toyo Open Country's look to be a good choice also- if only TBJ was around to weigh in... p!nK

BFG ATs are great as well quiet, wear great and lots of people swear by them Oh and 265-70s are about the same height as 245-75s and look good on the Moabs i'm one of those people that swear by the BFG AT KO's.. ran them on my KJ for 25000 flawless miles even after abusing them offroad... and there was still more than half the tread left. my dad has an H2 that came with BFG AT KO's and it has 50,000 on it with the original tires.. still in good shape and nice and quiet. if your looking for a mud tire those arnt it.. but for a road tire you cant beat them

I'm running them and totally in love. IMHO i think they are as good as the MTR's without the noise and are 10 times as good on wet roads.

Firestone Destination ATs. Been through two winters with them and they were great. They are a nice quiet tire that have held up well for the limted off roading I have done with them. They also handle very well on pavement.

I run Toyo OC AT's in 285/75's. They have done good, little slippery in mud, but decent traction other than that. I hated the REVOS's and not a fan of BFG's. You could also look into a set of Dayton Timberlines, but they have changed design and are more highway now than AT's, but usualy cheaper as they are a sub brand of Firestone. I think Goodyears are too soft and way overpriced. You could also look into Nittos AT's ( discount tire in Dayton), they are a little cheaper, but I've heard low mileage wear and I've heard 50K so not sure on those. My $.02 and just my opinion, take it with a bottle of salt

I would imagine it would be looking at the tread pattern. Yeah, it rained today and the MT/R's were a little on the squirly side, nothing out of control though. If I go with the dura tracs, it looks as though I might be able to simply run them both on and off road- get what I can out of the MT/R's and have no need for two sets of wheels. hmmmmmm, decisions...... p!nK

Matt, Rokee is on her second set of BFG A/T KO's, she has not been stuck...YET! She had pulled out a number of Jeeps with MTR's (including 1996xj's XJ <sorry Scott>) They have been great in the wet weather and snow, I drive on them everyday and they wear very even, and hold up well! They are pricy though, TBJ could help you get a good deal on them though They are great tires, but I will be switching to KM2's withing the next year...Dustin

That's BFG MUD's on my XJ, and yes he has pulled me out a couple time's, the mud's dig, unlike the allterrain's that stay on the top of the surface! I tend to sink more due to the Warn bumper and winch up front on the nose, I'm going to need that winch when I have to retreve Rokee 1998 !!!! For when his cockie booty get's stuck next time we go wheelin !!
