Tom, I seem to remember a metal frame with plastic sections slipped over the frame. I was looking at something from channel 12 news referring to this not as "Butter Jesus" or "Touchdown Jesus" but "Hindenburg Jesus" "Oh, the humanity!" I have no idea where all this is going, but it will be interesting to watch! We sure had some lightning show this evening! |

Big Butter Jesus Heywood Banks "In southern Ohio, just north of Cincinnati I beheld a vision, next to the expressway. Was a 60 foot jesus, with his hands in the air looks like he’s carved out of butter, just like at the state fair. Big butter Jesus Sweet cream Jesus Oh country fresh Jesus Unsalted Jesus Oh Promise Jesus Imperial Jesus Can’t believe it’s not Jesus Oleo Lord. Well you see him from the chest up like he’s about to do a back flip, like he scored a touchdown or maybe melting or about to drown. Well I’ve been to the state fair seen a cow made out of corn cobs Garth Brooks made of string cheese and the virgin out of olives. Big butter Jesus Sweet cream Jesus Oh country fresh Jesus Unsalted Jesus Oh Promise Jesus Imperial Jesus Can’t believe it’s not Jesus Oleo Lord. Shipped in pieces on a flatbed staring backwards was his big head Driver stuck in traffic backups desperately avoiding eye contact Well don’t make no graven images. That’s one of the 10 commandments I hope the grading curve is kindly You get to heaven with a 90 Big butter Jesus Sweet cream Jesus Oh country fresh Jesus Unsalted Jesus Oh Promise Jesus Imperial Jesus Can’t believe it’s not Jesus Oleo Lord. Can’t believe it’s not Jesus, Oh spread the word." R.I.P Big Butter Jesus

Here is a video that was taken as it burnt( Channel 9 news story).... http://www.wcpo.com/dpp/news/region_north_cincinnati/monroe/king-of-kings-statue-destroyed-by-fire Kind of irreverent.... Butter or touchdown Jesus, but anyway. It also burnt part of the amphitheater that it was attached to. |

Amazing that it burnt, must of been the steel structure that attracted the lightning at least they plan to rebuild it and I hope they do I assume some will be covered by insurance |

I think they should take the insurance money from the fire and help the less fortunate people of this state, not construct another statue. the original cost over $250,000, that would feed alot of hungry people, cloth alot of people who cannot afford it, I don't believe a church (which is a place for charity) should spend the money on another statue. The new one will probably cost more than the old.... Just my opinion |

I have mixed thoughts about it...yeah it's a monstrousity, but at least it makes a person think about Jesus as they pass if nothing else. I also agree, why not put the money where it is more useful, but from what I understand, the pastor and his wife were the ones who paid for it, not the church itself. Not that that's makes it better as they too could us the money for better things, but it's not coming from the money of the church.I hear they are rebuilding it, but it may be a different statue this time. This can turn into a nasty religion discussion... I will shutup now |

TAHOE wrote: Kind of irreverent Having studied a little of christianity.... I think that who ever created that monstorsity really is missing the message that they claim to be following. What are you trying to hide that you have to be so gaudy to PROVE you are something rather than living the life and leading by example, as you are taught by what you claim to believe? If you are a believer, you could intepret this as a modern day S & G event with a power power passing judgement on an atrocity. |

There is a lot of those comments going around in the media down here, as a Christian myself, I have my own thoughts. As I stated in my last post.... no more personal comments from me or this thread will get locked pretty quick. |

OK, guys, bear with me... - Any chance this statue will return in 3 days? - If getting struck by lightning is an act of God, is this a case of child abuse? - Heywood has added a new verse to his song already: One night Big Butter got hit by lightning It burned to the frame wire in a giant grease fire Some blamed it on Satan, and boy, that would be frightening But I thought it was Jesus’ father who was in charge of lightning Ok... I need to start drinking....
