So Ray, how well does it do off road? I have always been fascinated with Land Rovers. We have a local dealership and when they opened I remember seeing signs posted with prices for different services and thought that I wouldn't be able to afford the upkeep even if somebody gave me one. Still like them, though. Jim

i have only taken it out a handful of times so far, but for having street tires, it does great. there was a lifted jeep wrangler in front of me, attempting an obstacle about 15+ times, finally made it after giving it some momentum. i crawled up to it, tapped the gas, and idled right through it first try, no spinning tires :P

but overall, i love it, it goes where you point it. i love the body on the fully boxed frame, solid front axle, and long arms, overall much better suspension than my jeep had, much more possibilities. im glad i made the change, but i do still miss the liberty, after everything i had put into it.

the maintenance isnt much more than any other vehicle, unless you take it to the dealer, which i heard is $150/hour. but i do everything myself. all i did so far was plugs, wires, air filter, oil changes, and few other small issues under the hood, like valve cover gaskets, throttle body heater plate which coolant runs through the throttle body, was leaking. had to remove the upper intake manifold to get to the valve covers, so changed the intake plenum gasket too, need to unbolt the AC pump to remove the drivers valve cover. and the plug coil packs are BEHIND the engine down low, even below the lower intake, that was the most difficult was the plug wires :P

Ray,

Looks realy good the Disco. My brother has a Td5 Disco and is looking to lift it & add new tyres to it. What size tyres are you running now, 245 or 265? Also you lifted it 2inc? Have you got air suspention or coils? My brother has Coils at the front but air at the back (just to make life complicated when lifting it !!)

Fil.

only the one green rover picture is mine, to show how i trimmed my bumper. the others are of other peoples with the same lift im getting, and those are the 16" wheels i have now too.

mine has coils in the rear, thank god. i dont want that SLS(Self Leveling Suspension)

the tires in the lifted pictures are 265-75-16, 32", which im going to get before next winter. my tires right now are General 235-70-16 with decent tread left, ill wear these down before i get new tires, i dont care if it looks a little goofy this summer with tiny 29" tires :)

as for your brother. tell him to search around on www.landroverforums.com and landroversonly.com i like both of those forums. www.roverparts.com has nice parts, and has kits to swap the air bags to regular coils. its Atlantic British

I must admit, the only Rover's I have seen are driven by rich women stuck on themselves  BUT your's is headed in a direction I like, I guess there is a first for everything. Then again they say the same thing about our KJ's minus the rich part :jester:
I do like it and what you have done so far, nice job and keep it up. :JEEPIN:

thanks! i love it! it does ride much nicer, more firm, a little stiff, but its nice. its designed for a winch and bumper up front, but im not doing that for a while, if ever, so it turned out nice. it doesnt bounce anymore, shocks were shot and springs were sagged before

i ordered 2 rear spring isolators to level out the back, just like we do on our Libertys, they were 18 a piece from the dealer, not horrible. from the factory, theres 2 upper isolators in the rear, but not a lower, so im adding an upper to the lower on each side
