Hi Tom, Buggin, and other northern OH members, Sort of an unorthodox request, but here goes! I will be visiting my in-laws in southern MI for Christmas, not too far from you all. I am writing to you today because I picked up a lightly used 4" JBA lift kit that I want to install but I have never done any suspension work before. I know there's a boatload of expertise just over the border in Ohio... I would rather learn how it's done from the pros, than have a shop install the lift for me behind closed doors. Not that I'm inviting myself over Some specifics of the Jeep and the kit: 2008 KK with 225/75/R16 AT tires (would love to upgrade to 245/75/R16 Duratracs eventually) Used JBA 4 inch lift kit (year and a half old, not wheeled hard), including springs, shocks, and adjust-a-struts Used JBA UCA's (only 2 months old) with Moog upper ball joints Front and rear bump stops, extended brake lines for the rear (never installed) *** Need an adjustable track bar for the rear axle. You wouldn't have one lying around the shop, would you, Tom? If a lift date at the famed Mudd's Garage will be happening, I could be sure to order one from JBA beforehand. So I apologize if this is a presumptuous request, but I thought it never hurts to ask! I have enjoyed learning how to maintain and mod my Jeep, and I would love to have the chance to install a lift with folks who know what they're doing. It's also fun to meet and wrench with other members of LOST. Let me know what you think! Lauren |

Sounds like an awesome plan to get away from the "outlaws"! Like always I don't mind at all lending a hand, teachin and goofin around . It's always a good time even when things go south.I however don't have the space as of right now nor can offer Mudd's up for use, of course unless it's my crap, then I just barge in and make myself at home I do know my time right now is very tight and in the next few weeks will be traveling back and forth between northern MI and home on and off not to mention other personal projects I must get wrapped up in short order.I will wait for Tom to chime in with what he has going on and see what can or can not happen time permitting.

If it's on a SUNDAY.... well Duh! Plus, me and Hart are experts with the KK rear end! The front end is KJ and who doesn't know how to work on one of those around here, LOL. |

Thanks, everyone! I'm glad to see there is interest in helping me lift my KK. Sunday 12/16 wasn't in my original list of dates, but it would work as well. So if that makes it easier to find a day that will work for folks, I'll find a way to get there. |

I can tell ya for sure the group of guys that hang out and around Mudd's garage are a bunch of straight up great guys! If someone can't help doing a repair and or mod they help out in some other way, even if it is tellin jokes (or being the joke). I know for sure now that as this week has devolped my schedule for Dec. and early Jan. is crammed packed. If and it's a big if, Tom can break free from his obligations and or plans and something happens, I will for sure do my best to lend a hand.

Hi Tom, I just emailed Marlin to order the track bar. I work about 30 minutes away from his shop in Hatfield, PA, so I could actually just swing by and pick up the track bar after work sometime this week. I'm hoping he has one in stock. Here are the logistics for this weekend: I have to work on Friday. Saturday the 15th we will drive from Philadelphia, PA out to Brooklyn, Michigan where my wife's folks live. I'm available all day on Sunday the 16th, and any day after, thru Jan 1st. On Wed, Jan 2nd, we have to be back on the road headed back east. Hope that helps! Lauren |

A couple of other thoughts... (assuming we can do this lift together) Do you think I would need new bushings for this lift? It was on the other KK for a year and a half. The A arms were only on for 2 months. I could get bushings from Marlin at the same time as the Track Bar if you think it would be necessary. I can start shooting the OEM suspension bolts with PB Blaster this week. Are there any in particular that I need to be sure to zap? Should I set up an alignment appointment at a garage near you, or can you guys do that too? Any other thoughts...? Thanks! |

Well, with my friends/family/inlaws/outlaws etc scattered all about I'll be here and there and in between from the 16th till 26th/27th it looks like I'll be in and out during those weeks but bring your parts along, and as it gets closer and I know where I am we'll try and get you in and get that lift on. Ya know we only do "MIDWEST" vehicles so taking you into this special group is not for just any ordinary Jeep owner. But we'll see what we can do! |

I will bring the lift parts and the track bar with me on my holiday trip, and will be ready to go if and when you all can meet up. Thanks again for being open to helping me out! Hopefully that's enough of a connection that you won't be breaking any club rules! |

That may get your right foot in the door Tell Marlin you're heading my way and he'll fix ya up. I think my name floats around over there every now and again Oh, got a message from him that he is sending the first lift to Tanzania . Wish I was heading there with it. Wonder of the guy will need help? |

I talked to Brent this morning on the phone, and I'll be picking up the track bar at the JBA shop tomorrow morning! That's cool about JBA in Tanzania. How often do you get to travel there? |

Today I picked up an adjustable track bar for my KK lift kit at the Jeepin' By Al shop in Hatfield, PA. I should be good to go with the lift kit now, for whenever people's schedules line up!

Something after Christmas works for me will see you may want to start checking around for a place to get an alignment up there or if we do it during the week I can maybe get my old shop to get it in They've done plenty of KJs for me
