Anyone out there in the Ohio contingent in/around the Circleville area?

I need a set of eyes out that way...

A salvage yard there claims to have a silver tailgate in "perfect" condition. I was hoping there was someone nearby that could have a look and confirm its condition before I drive all the way out there to get it. I've asked the yard to send me photos, but not sure if they will do it.

If you (or anyone) can do it, I can send you the yard location/info.

That would be excellent - I'll PM you the info.

I'm probably just going to recycle it. Not sure if the replacement one will already have the handles/locks/switches in it or not. If not, I'll grab those things out of mine first. But between the denting, the rust that has started, and the internal rattle when the spare is mounted on the back... I can't see it being worth much to anyone else.

What about 20 bucks for it if you end up taking all the guts out for the other one?

Sure, if you want it that bad. You saw the condition.

Garage decoration, duh.

I got a Mopar KJ brush guard that I couldn't use on my '06 so that's what I use it for. ;)

Right on. That's probably what I'd get for it for scrap anyways.

Kind of be the long way wouldn't it??

Funny thing is Chris was sitting at my place and saw this and said " wonder what Jayme needs? " Right away I said "tailgate from one of the Salvage yards in Circleville". 3 minutes later Jayme responds and yep that's what it was

I've been looking for a long time. More seriously once I developed that rattle with the spare on the back. Made me crazy - even the radio wouldn't kill it anymore. :furious:

But I've been kind of selective about finding one. I want one in silver (don't want to spend the extra $$$ on having someone paint it when silver is a very common color), it needs to be in near-perfect shape (no rust, no dents... some scratching may be okay), and it can't be ridiculously expensive. I had a local guy from CL reply to my email today saying he had one for $450. Uhhhh, no. I'm certainly willing to drive some for it, but I gotta know it fits my criteria...

Circleville yard sent a photo today, but it was the tailgate with the spare still mounted. No idea what damage might live behind it... so I asked them to remove the spare and send me that photo. The parts that I could see looked good though.

Oh, and Nick... it would really depend on (1) if I go, (2) what day/time of day I go, and (3) what else I've got going on around that day. We'll see.

All the lots down there are pretty honest and fair.
I used to deal with them a lot back in the 70s-80s well up into the 90s really come to think about it .
