Been explained several times now
but shipping would of been way over double what it was by shipping two halves
The other guy making KK racks is having the same issue and is shipping his in multiple parts now
but its now a bolt together where RLs is fully welded when done the way Hart did it

Difference in looks is just your opinion. I was just getting the record straight as mine isn't strictly bolt together.

The option of bolting a rack together is nice for those that have no way of welding it. However a bolted together rack is a setup for coming apart, breaks, cracks, and water intrusion into the interior of the rack causing corrosion. A correctly welded rack is going to be much stronger, last longer, look far better, and that's not a matter of opinion unless ya like the look of a "Frankenrack".

First I don't have a dog in this fight
But comparing Atthehelms rack -vs- Rock Lizards show a lot of differences
I know Atthehelms is suppose to be the go to guy now for KK parts on here it seems But
comparing the two racks I see several points that moisture can get in when bolted together, welded maybe less depending on how good of a person you get to do the welding but you still have 20 points to weld compared to "2" for the RL . Sitting that rack up to get all 20 the same, with height etc will be a lot more problem, plus we won't get into strength. Not trying to knock your rack at all just pointing things out just like I did when I messaged you regarding moisture entering

Just a few more since I got the turnpike bugs washed off.
Some mild drainage swale action.

Its not a fight, again I want to keep the record straight. Mudd you know that is important.
Its 10 lap welds plus plugging the welded nuts so if you're counting it that way then there are 6 on RL's. My racks are also stronger than they need to be, 230 lbs was hauled on mine without issue which is way more weight than should be put up there in the first place imo because of the higher COG for safety sake. I also tested that bolt together joint using sealant inside the joints and had no issues. Those racks ship with the sealant included. It was only for about a month but no signs of leakage. Now don't get me wrong, I agree a fully welded rack is a much better way to go but there is no way someone is going to pay $400-$500 for shipping (that is what I was quoted).

The bottom line really is if there is something you don't like, keep it to yourself. I think I remember reading that on the forum rules somewhere. Its easy to forget there is a lot of thought, hard work, and money put into the stuff that one man shows produce. There are things that RL does and did that I don't agree with, but I keep it to myself because I don't want to tarnish his reputation, I respect his business, and I have tact.

So you are saying I have no tact ( which I guess includes Buggin as well doesn't it ) ?

I started out only as saying the RL is much stronger which is true the way that you are shipping them and people are installing them as a bolted together rack.
Now also we've talked ( in PMs) about this and I tried to help you on the bolt together rack. Having had bolt togethers on two XJs and one on the KJ before my current one I know there is no way to keep moisture out even with some sealant. It will help for a while but with use, flexing, movement due to heating up/cooling down etc sealant will not completely seal it.
I do agree that it is an option since shipping is so high on racks that size but it should also be noted that they should be welded to be fully sealed etc. and not having rusting issues.

Funny...I personally found it easier to wash after lifting.
