I considered the FJ when I was shopping (and ultimately got my JK) around last year. To me they were just to cramped, which since I have 3 boys space is a premium (IMO the Libby has more interior room, especially in the cargo area) and trying to see anything that isn't in right front of you is impossible.

POSERS!!!!

We saw a couple of FJs on the Top of the World trail in Moab. One guy seemed surprised to see five KJs on the trail...

I don't think I could handle the small windows, either.

Well I'm taking a pass on that JK. There is no warranty available because of the Skyjacker lift. I talked to the Finance Manager at Riverfront Jeep and he said if the lift wasn't MOPAR approved and or installed by a Jeep dealer, he couldn't offer the balance of the factory 3 yr / 36K mile warranty, nor could he even sell me a extended (aftermarket) warranty - if he were selling this Jeep at his dealership. FWIW, this one is at Biggers Chevy in Elgin.

It's kind of sad if you think about it. A 2008 Jeep with 11,800 miles on it and you can't even get a warranty.

Oh well, I'll be wheelin' the KJ for some time to come! :D

COMPLETE B.S.!!!

The Factory warranty remains in effect until 3/36. The Moss-Magnusen Act provides for that. The only thing that will not be covered by the warranty will be the Lift, or any damage that the lift causes.

I don't know what to tell you? I mean this came from the Finance Manager at a Jeep dealership. I would think he knew what he was talking about. He said this is a very touchy situation and suggested, "If you're a good mechanic, consider it -- if not, keep looking".

Sounds like the finance manager needs some education.

I guess I'll call Chrysler Finance directly and see what they say? I believe they are in Warrenville?

Most dealerships try to play ignorant about it anyway, because they will haev to pick up some of the bill on the repair (what ever Chrysler doesn't cover), and they would rather have you walk away mad, than lose money (that's why they are called Stealerships). Chrysler Financial is a bank only, and they won't be able to answer any questions concerning warranty. You'll need to contact Chrysler Warranties division for official answers. But like I said before, you are covered under the law for your warranty.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson-Moss_Act

http://www.jeep.com/en/owners/ Select 'Warranty', or Contact us under 'Need Help'

** Edit **

How much is the dealership asking for this JK?

I'm familiar with the act. Don (pixeldecal) brought that up to me eariler.

$26,000.00

I called Dempsey Jeep Dodge in Plano, IL (where my daughter bought her Challenger) and spoke with the finance guy there. But first I called the Chevy dealer selling the JK and got the last 8 of the vin #. The guy at Dempsey ran the vin. When the vehicle sells (if I bought it) I would get the 3/36 warranty, and I could also buy a extended warranty if I wanted. The only thing Chrysler won't cover is the lift. And when I mentioned well they might say the lift caused a problem with engine or trans for example - he said, no, not necessarily. He said as for the price, they're making money but it's not a bad deal for what it has.

So that first guy was full of BS!

Thanks daspes for encouraging me to look further into this.

No problem. Though you may want to work hard on the price with them. Around her brand new 2 doors X s packages are going for $16,000. Heck last year I picked up my Unlimited for $16,200 out the door. $26K seems real high to me.

My KJ has been sitting in my garage now for a 1 1/2 weeks :(

RL bumper has been off the jeep now for more than a week getting stripped and line-x applied. While it was off, I finally got around to changing the fuel float arm that I forgot to change when I installed the In-tank fuel pump a year ago.

Took 2 extra days for the stripping, and the Bartlett Line-x dealer was supposed to have it ready for me on Monday. I hope its ready by tomorrow.

Are you going to Steve's for the M&G on the 29th?
I want to get another look at your horn setup.
I have some of these to install.

Don't know. I've got some business in Minnesota later this month, not sure how the timing is going to play yet.
