We have a drain in front of the lower door near the garage that tends to clog with dried leaves, grass clippings, etc., which will make the rain back up into the lower room of the house. I was up most of the night trying to keep it clear... and then at one point, it didn't matter whether or not the drain was clear... the water started to back up anyway. So I threw a ton of old towels down inside in front of that door. :juggle:

I got up not too long ago to find that all the towels were wet... but the water was contained. :pepper:

The basement also got some seepage, but nothing major. I hope last night was the worst of it, because I'd actually like to sleep tonight.

Lack of power made this whole thing more *fun* - trying to see what I was doing was interesting. And while I was watching the water, I couldn't watch TV, use the computer, or my cell phone (battery had died). Society is way too reliant on electricity. :roll:

see, my power and internet went down..but i had the droid and my laptop and played spore lol

My KK came equipted with a power inverter, so had I lost power I could have gone out to the KK to charge the cell phone.

We won the war with the water as well. The water did claim the carpeting downstairs and displaced my mom to spend a few days upstairs with us. The sump pump was running almost constantly between 2-7am. We had a pump running in the shut-off well pumping water out the back door. Another (our old pool pump actually) was running in the clean out drain in front of the house pumping water into the street. The end of our block was flooded probably about 3-4 feet deep.

It's been a long day....

working at a greenhouse is soooo depressing at the end of the year...i counted, i threw out 600+ 4.5 inch pots today and 80 hanging baskets. sad day to be a plant.

It appears that Eugene's intermediate shaft has dislodged itself from the carrier assembly. Not sure why it happened or how much damage if any has happened. I wasn't able to shove it back in by hand laying under the Jeep yesterday. Today after work the CV/I-shaft will be removed to assess the situation.

New CV/intermediate shaft working out just fine this lovely morning. Alignment to be done, and bolt the skids back up.
