I was also tempted to include Long Grove but other than the Village Tavern (lunch isn't too pricey) I can't think of a good place to meet. And I should add, although the chocolate & strawberry festivals are a great time, I'm thinking it's way too crowded during those events.

There are a few places around here (Glendale Heights/Carol Stream/Bloomingdale).

Augustino's (Schmale & St. Charles Rd) in Carol Stream - great deli style sandwiches and a nice 50s diner-type atmosphere.

Village Tavern & Grill - good burgers, ribs, etc. right around the corner from Augustino's.

Also lots of chain restaurants in Bloomingdale and Addison.

There's a nice little hole in wall in Glenview. Reasonable prices, on a major road. Potato Creek Johnnys. They serve lunch and they've got outdoor seating. It's on Waukegan Rd. between Lake Avenue and Willow Road. Just an idea.

lionseye640; I like it. Because I like the idea of a location up that way.

Which reminds me, do you or anyone else know the location of a Dog & Suds that is still under the same family ownership since 1962? They hold hot rod cruise nights on Saturdays (I believe) and still have car hops.

Not that we could go there, but I can't remember what town it's in?

Augustino's, yummy!

The North Ave / Rt 59 location would be easier for most to find though.

Wow. :shock: I completely forgot about this place - my dad used to take my brother and I there for ice cream as a kid. It's probably been a couple of years since I've even been by it.

Dog-n-Suds locations in this area are in Ingelside and Grayslake... and also Loves Park (Rockford). Not sure which is the one you're talking about though.

Trust me, the ice cream, chicken & burgers is still just as good as it was in the 60's.

Grayslake = Thank you!
