First time driving the KJ in the snow, took roads that are less traveled to my fathers house in Mount Prospect :pepper: darn plow trucks kept ruining my fun!

Kept it in 2WD for as long as I could, but found myself slipping a bit in some areas (mainly from a stop). At this point I started to miss my winter tires. Decided to finally engage 4HI and boy was that fun

Felt like the pavement was dry and the thing just took off straight in the snow, as if it wasn't there.

My wife on the other hand finally experienced the con's of OEM tires on those big wheels. I'm feeling some Crager 8's with some A/T coming soon.. Just have to see what to do with the 20's and I'm sure I can convince her lol. Not sure if selling them would be easy, if I could find storage, problem solved

Tomorrow I'm heading to Mount Horeb, WI for the weekend, with some friends of ours. Hopefully have some fun out there with the snow :JEEPIN:

It's only been two weekends, but I can't wait to go back to Manistee! With our Utah trip coming up in less than two months and the uncertainty of my Mom's situation - I can't plan anything too soon. However, we are definitely planning on going back mid-December; specifically 12/13-12/16. We're going to plan a trip up there to coincide with the Geminid meteor shower. Just throwing the dates out there for now. I'll get to serious planning in the fall.

If we manage to do anything this summer/fall - I'll definitely post it up as well.

Hey guys.

New here, just bought a 2012 KK and planning on getting my feet wet with some wheeling.
Buying/installing some skids and tow hooks in the coming weeks to compliment some Geolandar AT/S tires and enhance my ability to not get stuck/break things on the trail.

Myself and a few buddies will be up in the Manistee area doing some hiking and riding. We plan to hit Silver Lake Dunes for a day and check out some of the awesome logging roads I have seen posted up on here.

We will be out there April 29th through May 1st. Not positive on what our exact plans are, but I figured I would let everyone know another Jeep will be in the area if riding trails solo isn't your thing.

Glad to find this community and I hope to leverage a lot of what you have all learned making the best of the Midwest in a Liberty.

jeepfrog likes to head up to Manistee a couple of times a year - they actually just got back from a trip in late March. I'd like to go up that way sometime, but haven't been able to do it yet. Maybe this winter... we'll see.

:JEEPIN:

I, personally, will be away traveling until the fall... but wanted to say welcome aboard! :D Where are you from? Hope you have the opportunity to join in on some of the IL-LOST local meet & greets and other outings. Look forward to meeting you sometime!

I got the Manistee idea from his threads on this forum. It looks like he has an awesome time up there.

I grew up roughly a half hour north of Detroit, but just recently moved out to Chicago. I live in Near-Loop, so getting to the outdoors is a therapeutic necessity for me.

I will definitely keep my eyes open for the meet and greets and hopefully check out one of your wrench days.
I am certainly looking to learn a lot more about wrenching on my Jeep, and this seems like the place to do it.

Welcome to the group!

We'll probably have a Manistee trip planned for sometime this summer and possibly a fall trip. I know we are definitely going in mid-December (13th-16th).

Spending more time in Ohio than I ever thought I would.
I'm either driving to or through 2-3 times a week.
Getting unloaded in Springfield OH right now.
Been to cities I thought I'd never go to in my life!

I used to live near there in Fairborn when I was stationed at Wright-Patt AFB. I like area, lots of rivers and valleys, not flat.

Well, she's out of the shop and running great.
As much as I love my Jeep, 40-45 MPGS is better
than 13.5!

Mine's sitting at 89k miles.
Course when I drive maybe 25 miles a week
if I get to come home, and even less because
the bike's running again...

Dang you must of put some miles on that thing from this past march until now. I thought you had 209K on it or something back when we had that meet in elkhart..

On another note, I'm gonna be busy in the shop here coming up...

The tj needs:
install new tranny cooler lines and finally no more leaking on the garage floor
and a oil change

The KJ needs:
Install new lift
drop the tranny pan and replace filter (had the tranny flushed by the dealer not to long ago but they didn't replace the filter and the pan gasket has a slight leak)
full brake job
and a oil change

I need to work all this stuff in with a infant!

Spotted yellowcoyote on Wing street by Walgreens last snow storm. Been a while since I've seen your rig Jamie. I waved, but was driving my S10 so you probably didn't notice.
