Thought I would start a thread where we can talk about anything local. From lift parties, to Jeep and non Jeep related experiences, to outright lies. So grab your favorite brew and keep us entertained. Not to mention informed.

Saving the shekels for the Frankenlift. $1000 (shipped)
Halfway there, but then I think about Supersliders, $360 & ship,
and Als Upper A-arms, $390 & ship.

I may have to sell my body on the street.

I've got a whole list of maintenance this spring, right after I make my last payment next month.

Change Diff fluid front and back
Change xfer case fluid
Fuel Filter Change
Change Coolant - 4 years is too long, time for fresh stuff.
Brakes - 70k its probably time for rotors all around and full system flush
Power Steering flush - again I don't know what the service interval is, but might as well do that as well
Remove Rear Bumper and repaint - POR15
While I'm at it. Fix the fuel sender gauge that hasn't been right since I installed the lift pump.
New Battery - Original is 4 years old. Not sure how much longer I want to trust this one.
About 1500 miles to an oil change.
After I get all that done, I can install the TJM front bumper I just bought. :D

Jealous. :P

Got a new roof basket being delivered tomorrow.

Plan to do a lot of nitpicky things like sand/primer/repaint rails, work on removing some of the more noticeable trail rash, re-run my cb power thru the firewall, replace some dash bulbs, add screening to the grill, fluid changes... and sometime in August, the OME lift will replace the spacer lift.

I had wanted to drop the rock rails this weekend to start prepping them for the herculiner. Dang storms! Hopefully that will get done sometime this week - I'd love to have them done before we head up to Manistee N.F. in a couple of weeks.
Also need to get a few other things done before we head out to Moab later this year: tranny skid, re-wire cb and whatever else comes up between now & then.

(Love the "Garage" idea, oddball!)

I originally bought my kj from a Nissan dealer in St. Charles. One of the options I had when I bought it was to do the lifetime oil changes. Figuring then that I fully intend to have the kj till it falls apart, I thought it was a pretty good deal. Nearly every time since has been a painful experience with that dealer... they tried charging me a couple of times for the oil changes (even though they have record that I purchased the lifetime deal), it usually takes them a MINIMUM of 45 minutes to do the oil change - this doesn't include anything other than the new oil and filter, mind you.

So this past Saturday, I took it in again. I had to be somewhere by noon that day, so I thought I'd get up early and get to the dealer when they opened at 8:00am. Got the jeep there, got the paperwork taken care of, and brought some stuff to do for the anticipated wait. About a half hour into my wait, the service manager came in to tell me that it was going to take a little longer than they anticipated. I said fine, thinking it was still going to take them an hour or maybe a little longer. I'm a patient person.

After 2 hours of waiting, I hunted down the service manager who was leisurely having a cigarette and BS'ing in the parking lot. I asked him what was taking so long, as I reminded him that this normally takes under an hour to do. His response was that they had to remove the skid plates to do the oil change. I explained to him that this wasn't necessary as the skid that I have has a hole in it just to make oil changes easier - the hole is centered right under the oil pain drain plug. He insisted that I was incorrect and that there was NO way it could be done without removing the skids first. Still being relatively calm, I told him that the other technicians there have done this multiple times before without skid removal... and that I had watched them do it before from the window in the waiting area. Still denying that I could actually know what I was talking about, he gets pi$$y with me.

Okay - gloves off.

I got ugly with him... I recall saying something about how Nissan couldn't possibly know what they're doing regarding the skids, and if there was any question in their mind that they might have thought to ask me... also said that I could have done the f-ing oil change myself in under 2 hours easy, even if I had to remove the skids to do it... why they had some technicians who were capable of doing this correctly in under an hour in plain view of me... wondering what kind of other incompetent techs they had... questioning his ability as a manager... why people would even bother to purchase the lifetime oil changes for the snail's pace that they do them in... and more that I don't even remember.

If I technically wasn't throwing away money by going there to have them do the whole thing for 'free', I would never step foot on their property again. I'm pretty sure the service manager will remember who I am from now on though... and that next time, I'll have to insist on showing them how to do it myself.

You should have gone into the sales area and demanded to see the dealership's General Manager. Letting him know your displeasure with this latest experience as well as informing him of past experiences, including your purchase of this service would have been delt with properly. Trust me, if the GM walked under your Jeep on the rack and saw for himself that the skid did not need to be dropped, there would have been hell to pay (behind closed doors) for the Service Manager from the GM.

WOW! Remind me to stay on Jayme's good side! 8)
Seriously, though that really stinks. I think oddball has the right idea - no GM would (or should) tolerate hs staff screwing around and wasting everyone's time by not doing a job right.

did you check the hardware and make sure the dealer put the skid back on correctly?

My first reaction when I left was to call Aaron and tell him I wasn't going back there - ever - and that I'd just do it myself from now on. It's so rare that I get that livid. But, he talked me down...

But next time, there will be a conversation with the service manager ahead of time. Hopefully more civil than this past experience. They will be instructed to consult me if they think they need to drop the skids so I can show them how to do it... and if it continues to be an issue, I like the idea of getting the GM involved. Great suggestion!

Oh, and yes... the hardware is correct, and everything was put back where it was supposed to go. Good thing for them too... they don't need to give me any more ammo against them.
