I have got to finish fixing the KJ but the person who helped me take it apart won't help put it back together and I'm shall we say mechanically challenged lol

anyways I need to install new cvs, carrier bearings for the front dif (although I'm willing to hold off on this just to have 4 wheel drive with the upcoming snow) and new bushings for the lower control arms.

I would really love if someone could help me out. I'll buy food and beer :)

So its already torn down?
And in a very nice and warm garage?
Wish I was closer and not heading out of town in the AM

Bushings in the LCAs will have to be pressed in or buy new LCAs
Carrier bearings?

CV is a easy thing to do, do you have a new one yet?

all is torn down, it's just time to put all the new parts in!

I've got all the parts rattling around in my cargo area (rattling for over a month now, sadly).

Tom, I'd drive to OH if you weren't heading out :) you know I bring goodies when I visit lol

as for carrier bearing - it's the bearing that the cv goes "into" where the cv rests into the front dif. Somehow mine is all tore up - tons of metal shavings were evident when I took the old passenger side cv out.

Sadly I have no jack, stands, tools or garage. :(

Unfortunately, I'm out of town this weekend. Not sure if Jayme is able to come supervise.

The CVs can be done in an evening. Together Jayme and I can change out both sides in less than two hours.

Not sure about the lower A arm bushings, haven't had to do them yet. Might be able to pull the arms and run over to a suspension shop to get them pressed in. You will need an alignment after.

The carrier bearings will be a pain with the diff in the vehicle.

If you and Steve decide to tackle this I can help with phone support.

Once you guys get the day/time figured out, someone give me a call and I'll come lend a hand. I have plans on Saturday morning-mid afternoon, FYI. Sunday would be better. But someone let me know and I'll make every effort to get there.

Ann - I assume you're still running without both CV's in? Have you drained the front diff at all? If not we will do that too. Especially since you were seeing shavings before. Make sure you pick up new gear oil ahead of time.

We'll have to see what we can do about the bushings...

jayme you rock! Still mall crawler right now with both front cvs out. Haven't drained the fluid, but I'll make sure to have that too.

Bushings are soooo the least of my worries. I feel like my KJ is dying a slow and (to me) painful death though. And it's only been wheeled three times! Go figure...

I should be there, as of now no plans.

Looking forward to meeting all that show up.

It was good to meet everyone, and had a good time, wish it was warmer, had to leave my seat warmers on the majority of the ride back to WI to unfreeze my @$$.

Lionseye, how was the ride home?

Thanks again Jayme, Will and Steve! I really appreciate all your help yesterday!

The drive home was uneventful. I'll be testing out the 4wheel drive a little later today and let you know how that works. Still some clunks, creaks and pops (presuming that's ball joint and sway bar link related sounds though). I'll be ordering lower ball joints later this week, and hopefully getting that sway bar link bolt.

Hope everyone finally warmed up! I'm thinking I need to pickup my spaceheater from my parents house next time :)
