It was also nice to meet all of you guys, definitley made the trip that much better wheelin' with cool folks (except for the Gretchen lady Just kidding!). More pics from this and the other trails can be found here: http://s934.photobucket.com/albums/ad188/eyehatetofu1/Moab/?start=0 |

Always nice to start a long day of wheelin' with a flat: Yep, my KK's driver's side rear MT/R shoe got a hole in it on the inside sidewall. That's why in all the other photos from Triple Whammy you can see I'm running on the spare....good thing I had an MT/R mounted on it too. Everyone got to see what its like to unload the entire back of a KK to get to the crank stud used to lower the spare from below a KK. Meducan doing a little flex getting warmed up (on "Prelaunch Pad" I believe): Then onto "The Wedgy": Pixeldzn shows us how it's done: After doing some flexing earlier, Meducan does some wheel stuffing: Troy knows how to make it look cool : After starting with too much lean, MtnLuvr straightens the KK up: Eyehatetofu commences "The Wedgy": Mel's JK flexes its solid axles piece of cake: |

"The Launch Pad": MtnLuvr climbing "the Launch Pad".....sure did feel steeper than it looks here....although I can tell my front suspension is a little lighter than usual in this photo: Eyehatetofu after the hill descent and just about to enter "the Launch Pad": ....and then nearing the top: Mel, wasn't it just before this when you were telling me how light you thought your front end would get on this type of obstacle? Slow and easy does it. and then back down...... Meduncan: Cool change from having a "light" front end coming up to immediately having a "light" rear going down (as shown by my KK): My niece is always quick to pose while waiting on the Jeeps -- but my nephew in the background....well, boys will be boys : Some of the surrounding desert plantscape: Troy coming down the return leg of Skyline Drive: (never have to worry about losing a yellow Jeep in the desert) Mel coming down part of the sand-laced trail: As usual, Troy's Yellow JK doesn't break a sweat: The KK's longer nose and tail, however, are getting frequent opportunities to "kiss" some local rocks: A large slickrock area for a scenic lunch break: Beautiful scenery: Ok, you can write your own caption for this one : ....1..No, no one had been "drinking" ....2..Strange local gravitational effects? ....3..The making of some Michael Jackson video? ....? Meduncan climbing down another ledge: Eyehatetofu working his KJ down one of the many un-named obstacles: I think this is about where, right after Meduncan asked "How am I getting down from this?", he asked "Why am I the lucky first Liberty in our line-up?": but he made it look cool climbing down: And then right after that, Troy guides Meduncan down through the tippy ledge: Cool under pressure: After Troy went, he came back to provide spotting to get the KK down these obstacles: I'm not certain, but this might have been one of the times I heard Mel say "its only plastic" : The longer front and rear of the KK, and at my lift height of ~ 2.5", certainly provided some extra challenge on this trail (above and beyond having kids and the weight of 4 other people and their gear with me). |

Some nice local architecture: And now for "The Golden Crack" obstacle: Can't beat the scenery as we all parked to walk-down "The Golden Crack" obstacle: Pixeldzn, our trail leader, again shows us how its done: Ummmm, Meduncan, is that wheel supposed to be that far off the ground? Meanwhile, my niece and nephew and their mom find a local inhabitant: The Troysterr spanning the crack: Eyehatetofu navigates his KJ across "The Golden Crack": Flexing to get the coolest shot: Mel shows how its done in a SWB JK: Nice front flex: Nice rear flex: Arches in the distance: |

Post subject: | Re: Day 3 - Tripple Whammy (pics) - MtnLuvr's Gold Bar Rim |
On the Gold Bar Rim trail: Mel in his JK, with the front roof panels removed, cruising on the Gold Bar Rim trail: More beautiful scenery: Its getting late in the day and my nephew, during one of our stops for obstacles, wants to know if he can have yet another snack since dinner won't be anytime immediate: Getting the KK up one of the last rock climbs: Eyehatetofu up on a ledge as the sun lowers: Don't worry Mel, we'll wait for you...... Triple Whammy was a long day of wheelin but a scenic trail with plenty of opportunities to tune your driving skills and test your rig. |
