I went with the molded flaps on mine. I like the look and they sure help save the paint.

I don't know about saving the paint. I took mine off and they had worn the paint off along the edges of the mud flap on the flares. Protect from rocks, yes, but still damaged paint.

I agree that they do rub the paint under where they were installed but I have no intentions of taking mine off. I figured thats the best of the two evils over rock chips on my paint.

If you have to have them go with rubber the overall quality is better.

I would go with the rubber if you offroad, and the molded if you stay stock and on the street simply because I think they look better on a non lifted KJ. I went with the molded and had them Line-X'd. They're very sturdy now. Before they felt flimsy and I always thought snow and ice buildup in them was going to rip them off. They do an OK job of keeping stuff off the sides of mine. If your stance isn't any wider than stock they do a pretty good job. Of course, if you Line-X the sides of your KJ you really don't have to worry about it anymore.

Niether!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just like KYLiberty, bedline the beltline and don't worry about rock chips ever again.I had the same problem with rock chips but soon bedlined the beltline when I had about 125miles on the odometer, did the flares,F/R bumbers, and later did the roof also.

For an infrequent offroader the heavy duty rubber flaps have served me well

I voted for "neither"...............but if someone tied me down and duct-taped my mouth up so I couldn't jump up and down kickin and screamin, and shot me up with tranquilizers, while they installed them, then I think the rubber jeep ones would look a just a little better........until the "stupor" wore off.

Neither, can't think of a reason to have something I can get stuck between my tires and the rocks!

I've got the molded oem ones on mine. That's how my KK came from the original owner. Haven't bothered to take them off yet. I'd be really pissed to get rock chips in the paint if I took them off. I haven't off roaded yet, but I'll take them off if that day ever comes.
