Here is which gear oils tested best for reference: http://www.amsoil.com/products/gearlube ... Paper.aspx

In order of quality based on test results:
Amsoil Severe Gear
Mobil 1 (about half as good as Amsoil)
Gm Syn
Castrol
Redline
Penzzoil
Valvoline

fwiw, RP was way down the list.

I run Mobil 1 but only because every time I change any of my fluids I need it that day and forget to order my Amsoil stuff to have it here on time. Same thing just happened with my air filter. I keep forgetting.

Agreed. The only info i take to heart on oil testing is ASE tests as they are just looking at all oils without bias!! Buyer be ware when a company shows study's to prove there products dominance and it was all paid for by the company. And don't say they don't lie cause they all do.

Just like Valvoline commercial about more NHRA cars use there oil..................ya cause Valvoline pays more than any other oil company in sponsorships to NHRA teams.....wow now that is a coincidence. :?

Ok :o
I have an idea
Why don't you pay for the next independent study!
Of course you will not be able to publish it because we all now know you must have something to gain. :P

Absolute truth. Until this past summer I had a partnership in a NHRA Outlaw / IHRA Pro Mod car. I'd say 75% of the cars running this class actually use Redline Oil. They were one of our sponsors which is why we used their stuff. Don't get me wrong, it's great racing oil but without sponsorship, I wouldn't hesitate to use Amsoil racing oil.
