So I was laying in bed this morning wondering...I know that all Jeeps have letter codes, ex. KJ. But then I started to wonder, what does KJ stand for. Since all the Jeeps have a code ending in "J" I am going to assume that the "J" stands for Jeep. But if that's true, then what does the "K" stand for? And if the "J" does not stand for Jeep, then what does it stand for.
Yes I understand I thought of all of this while laying in bed this morning. It's sad I know. But what does KJ really stand for?

It doesn't stand for anything. Just like, LJ, TJ, WJ, XJ, YJ, AND ZJ doesn't stand for anything.

CJ (Civilian Jeep) was the only designation that really meant anything and that was back when Jeep built military and civilian versions.

All Jeeps designations end in J? Tell the to the new TK and the WK. The Lib is the last Jeep to end in J if memory serves me right. Who said Jeep designations don't stand for something? The first TRUE Jeep the average Joe (or Jane so as not to offend the lady folk) was the CJ. That stands for Civilian Jeep. As for the rest of them, I doubt there any REAL answers for what KJ means. But I like Kick@$$ Jeep

So I read in JP Magazine tonight that KJ stands for the 10th Letter of the VIN number on your card. It said that each Jeep has a letter code standing for what the 10th letter is on the VIN. I have not checked it yet but feel free and let me know.

on mine the 8th character is K, not the 10th. However, I had the VIN off my neighbors Cherokee handy due to me doing some work on it lately, and the 10th character in that VIN is indeed X for XJ.....interesting.

by the way not all jeep codes end with J... for example - XK (commander), TK (new wranglers) :)
