Hello
so my question is what makes a liberty have a trail rated emblem? Was this put on at a certain year ? Do the ones with the emblem have a more beefed up suspension etc. than the ones that don't have the emblem? Mine didnt come with one and I seem to be having emblem envy  I guess I could always buy one and stick it on.

any info on this is much appreciated!

cheers

No vehicle changes to get the trail rated emblem. They just started it during a certain year. You can get one for free by contacting DC's customer service and giving them your VIN #. At least, that's what a lot of guys did.

If I remember correctly there is a limit. The Jeep has to be 4x4 to get the Trail Rated badge. Thus the need for the VIN.

Keep in mind that you get the cheap plastic badge if they send you one. If you really want one, I'd just dish out a few bucks and buy a nice aluminum one. See also here:

Call a few more times at different times of the day. Maybe it was just a service rep in a bad mood or not wanting to do any work.

the emblem is cute and all, and while this is no slam on the kj, i gave up on worrying about what an emblem said when i drove a "power wagon" with a 318 and 35" tires for 6 years in high school and college. it should have said "under power wagon", so it's what's under the sheetmetal that matters most.

unless you put lower gears in the Power Wagon-the 35's will make anything underpowered. I agree with hankwood though. The badge is worthless as it really means nothing. My '02 came with the bigger (45rfe) transmission and it sits taller then any of the KJ that originally came with the trail rated badge yet they got it and mine doesn't. I'd rather have the 45rfe and the extra height. The 545rfe you diesel guys get would be nice on the highway though if it is as tough as it 4 speed brother...

I got one off ebay for about 15 bucks. If you go that route, make sure that you get the 2006 version as it is heavy and made of metal. I think the older ones are plastic. It looks awsome though. Doesn't do much for off-road ability though.
