Ok, some of you have heard my liberty caught on fire last week. The mechanic after just a quick look thinks it is totaled.(will know for sure Mon/tues) I am going to Pastafari in about 8 weeks and need a jeep. Here are a few options. Please tell what you think.
1. My daughter has a 02 146,000 miles she is ready to sell for 3,000. But I know of 2 times the oil was not changed for over 10,000 miles. It does have synthetic oil in it. And it runs great no other problems.
2. Dealer in town has a really nice 03 101,000 miles loaded with leather for 9,000
3. 03 cactus is selling one 04 Rene 70,000 miles for 7,000. But he is in north Carolina so I would have to fly out and drive it back to kansas.
4. Find a re builder for around 2,000 fix it with my parts. (My son does re builders for a living)
5. Buy a new car for gas mileage
That is my least favorite.
What ever I get I need to pull all my mod's off of my jeep and install them on another one in time for Pastafari
(except the new car)

I voted to buy your daughter’s KJ. There are a few advantages that I see. #1, You might be able to make payments to her (family takes care of family type of deal). #2, It appears to be your cheapest option. #3, You have a history on it. #4, The transaction will be paperless and easy. #5, And perhaps the most important, you'll be helping your daughter out. :D

I won't know that until Monday. But everyone keeps telling me that even if it is fixed other problems with the electrical system could pop up later. I can just see me 200 miles from anywhere in the middle of the Utah Desert breaking down and paying a tow truck a thousand dollars just to get me back to town.

If it were me I would buy my daughters (for the reasons everyone else has posted and swap all of your parts on it, then either keep your for parts or fix it (as you have time) and sell it.

Definitely the $3k daughter's Jeep!
1) Helps daughter
2) Lowest cost acquisition
3) 2 late oil changes are NOT likely to kill it
4) all of the things said above

Buy the daughter's Jeep for all the reasons mentioned above. Also, If the insurance company writes off your Jeep, after paying your daughter $3000 you may come out ahead as well.

#1: Yes
#2: No
#3: I would say yes but impratical tbh
#4: No
#5: NO!!!

So yeah, basically what everyone else is saying. Buy the daughter's Jeep and fix it up! Although you could have the #3 option shipped out to you :juggle: just saying...

I heard back from the Insurance company and the jeep is not totaled. 3,400 to repair it. And everyone I talk to tells me there will be more problems with it later. With pastafari coming up in 8 weeks I will drive around 2,800 miles on that trip and need something I can trust. I will fix my liberty and sell it.(after all my parts come off) I bought 03 cactus Jeep Rene. Flying out to North Carolina in the morning. I Know it was in second place in the voting. But.... I am going to buy my Daughters jeep also. In a couple of weeks. And I get to drive the Rene and my wife will drive the daughters.(after I install a lift on it) She got used to hers and wants a lifted jeep.

SWEET! It's times to update your signature, post some pics, and start swaping parts. :pepper:

No other issues. It ran great. The 04 will get towed back home the end of the week to start taking all the good stuff off. There will be some parts for sale but no body parts.(sorry Jayme) Skids, tow hooks, Maybe 5 moabs but I have not made up my mind on that one yet.
