My '05 Limited has the Sirius radio receiver and RBQ 6-disc in dash CD changer. The problem is that once or twice a week, when you start the Jeep and the radio is in Sirius mode from the previous trip, a really loud hissing/static sound is made from all speakers instead of the Sirius programming. You can very faintly hear the Sirius station under all the hissing, and you can switch to CD/ AM/FM sources and they all work just fine, but if you go back to the satellite source, the hissing continues -- and it's much louder than any of the other sources.
The only way to fix the problem is to turn the Jeep off and back on. Turning just the radio off doesn't help -- I guess whatever is causing the problem keeps power on even with the RBQ head unit off. Some dealers have replaced the Sirius tuner itself, and some have replaced the headunit, but I don't think either has solved all the problems. My dealer suggested replacing the antenna, but I know that's not the problem, as you can still hear the Sirius programming -- and if you go inside to where it doesn't get any signal, it still mutes the radio and the hissing and displays "NO SIGNAL".
I've read a number of similar stories, but so far no one has gotten a real answer. I'm hoping that they can figure out what the problem is and fix it, and am just waiting for a TSB or something. Anyone else have this problem? BTW, it seems like it ONLY happens when the radio is in Sirius mode on startup -- so as a workaround, I try to remember to switch to AM/FM or CD before I shut down.
