I have had my rear pads replaced

The Dealer tells me that there is not a problem

I will also NOTE. The Rear Pads are 1/3 as thick as the front pads

I think it maybe a good idea to organize a list of everyone with this concern, and if possible odometer readings on the vehicles with rear brakes wearing sooner then fronts. and maybe even gas mileage before dealer repairs and after, to see if this problem corrolates to the 12mpg alot of us are getting.

I drive the Diesel Version and get way way better than 12mpg.

I am curious just how much of an issue there is.

I have had Rears Wear out 2 times before fronts.. I have only 36000 on mine.

I see that calipers and things have been replaced on others, I was personally told that my Jeep did not have a problem. However I am not sure that is true.

I am aware that the rear pads are much thinner than the front pads when new. About 1/3 as thick........

crazyness!

I have been around cars my whole life and have never seen a vehicle go through rear brakes faster than front. Something is definitely wrong and my Jeep dealer doesn't get it!

and to think I gave them very high marks on the DC survey......

Post subject:  TSB for rear brakes.

:) MY Libby is in the shop right now getting the rear breaks done. It shoud be ready tomorrow. Everytime I stopped lately I woud
here a noise that sounded like metal stress. The Dealer called me and said that the rear brakes are the problem and that there is
a TSB on them.

I mentioned this to my dealership a few times about the brake noise and they told me that it is common in the liberty and that not too worry about it. They said that it is not doing any damage, I think they are waiting for me to replace them and pay fo it.

Post subject:  Rear Brakes?

Had my 05 CRD in for service and told tech that the rear brakes were making a noise. He asked me is they were moaning, his words. I said I quess you could describe the noise that way.

They replaced the pads and resurfaced the rotors. I was told later that DC had denied the repair since it was only good for 12 12 on the 05. The dealer did not charge me for the repair. I have about 25,000 miles on the CRD.

No noise now from the rear brakes.

Post subject:  MPG Update!

Just returned from a trip to Florida. On a very controlled run for 250 miles, speed at 61 MPH, my 05 CDR 28,000 miles, averaged 33.1 MPG on Flying J fuel. No AC and no weaving in and out of traffic. Around town I average about 21+- MPG. Less if I run AC. I hope to get better MPG as it gets older. I run 40 lbs in my tires and never push the CRD at stops.
