Such a BS recall on a 7-8 year old part that is a wear item, which in most cases 7-8 years is the expected lifespan(same as any other sealed balljoint).

I got the same notice for 1 of our Libs yesterday, I expect the recall notice for the other one any day now. Sad part is I have already replaced my UCA's twice with stock, and just last month with JBA's. I'll still go into the dealership to collect the parts for both our jeeps, I figure they'll make a nice big @ss set of horse shoes.

doubt they'll give you new uca's without the old ones, dont see that they'ed just give you the new uca's

Yeah that won't happen, they will have to install them and you must have the OEM ones installed otherwise they will not do the work since you have aftermarket ones already on.Then your VIN get's flagged so no more recalls or warranty will apply to your KJ.

Oh and there is no vehicles being produced and sold in the US that have grease zerks anymore, they all now use sealed joints.I believe about '05 was the last year for serviceable joints, like it mattered since no one greased them anyways and the greaseable joints would not last any longer then the sealed joints.

Greaseables have always proved in my experience to last longer. On my old Dakota I replaced sealed ball joints twice 60,000 km apart. When I switched to the Moog Greaseables I was able to get 100,000 km out of them.

So people,

Has anyone in USA received a recall notice on their joints?
What year and did your experience at dealership work out well?
Do you think the dealership will do the work for free if I provide grease able parts?

Your '05 is not part of the recall, only some '02 and '03's and only in certain locations which does not include CA.

So, with an 05 and living in CA I should do what if I notice extra play in my LBJ's?
Will the new dealer who opened in my area do the swap if I show them the failure?

The latest recall is for certain year/location UBJ's and not the LBJ's.

[color=#FFFF00]Thanks, we should all watch for this UBJ problem since our Liberties were only built at on or two of the factories yes?
If the defect is showing up what, we in CA were manufactured with a different part or part jobber?
This is, as many here have stated, a life threatening possibility.

Not really, the whole problem stemmed from peoples inability to wash there vehicles and then complaining about 7-8 year old parts failing(which is the life span of them anyways) so Chrysler was forced to issue a recall and they only recalled the years and regions where corrosion in winter(salt) was a issue.

Troy, I hear your point about the lack of washing and break-down of the joints over time...but I have a 1988 Oldsmobile that still has stock ball joints and I live in a salt-happy state. My 03 KJ lowers went bad by 05 yet my 1988 still has the originals...

Is your Olds lifted and get's wheeled? That is the difference in your case.
