Here are a few pics from today's FITS V Friday Run... Bulldog Canyon. The view from this year's campground at Usery Park looking north. The desert is really green and the cactus are plump from all the rain we had this winter.... First time on the trail with the sway bar disconnected. Not too bad for a 2" coil spacer lift using the stock coils if I may say so myself.... Here's Silverdiesel coming down a rocky section of the trail (check out his new "custom" made rock rails).... First to suffer trail carnage for the event. Can't go too far with a busted valve stem. No time to get it fixed, so I'll be sitting out Saturday's run in camp since I won't have a spare.... |

Post subject: | Some pix from the Ajax trail |
We figured we'd go with Todd on the Ajax trail since everyone else was doing the other trail. Three vehicles, four people, two dogs: The remains of some unnamed mill: Todd going back up the rocky stretch towards Superior, just to see if it was as interesting going up as it was coming down (apparently it wasn't): Not so difficult that we were ever in danger of breakage, but difficult enough to hold our interest. And Mary's writing a story about the refrigerator in the cabin: ...and 50 pounds of 1/4 plate steel. Cool time. |

A great weekend everyone. Nice meeting some new folks, too! Here's some I took in no particular order: We camped near a town. Wish I could remember which way it was. Post run nap headquarters Tom getting his toes wet AZ sunset Russ' rapids Poseur du jour Some strange geology Imagine the force to turn sedimentary rock 90 degrees The wildflowers are going to be insane in a week or two. Nearing the high point. Killer view west. |

Mas: Breeziness I imagine that's written in blood... Sunset fun Cholla Camp. Aptly named. Can I borrow your comb? Playing dominos with Bushmills. Proper hydration is key. These souls are prepped. Ernie, what did you do all the time you were in Antartica? "Played Stump" He says. Bird in the largest Ocotillo I think I've ever seen. The rearview shot. Russ and Tom |

Silverdiesl and I got a late start Saturday due to stupid work and me having to get a busted valve stem fixed. The plan for us was to met at camp and just sit around telling tall tails until everybody got back off the trail. Instead we got the bright idea we'd better head out to Box Canyon as the official FITS V Rescue Team in case Neatus and crew needed help finding their way home. We made it to the end of Box Canyon and only had to wait 30 minutes for them to show up. From there we headed back to camp at break neck speed. We took a detour to avoid heavy traffic on US60 (LOL... that's where the rescue team took over). The dinner, raffle and sitting around the campfire rounded out the day. This morning I showed up at camp to get Silverdiesl moving. I helped him cook his breakfast and pack up his camp. By then everyone had left except Neatus and crew who were still playing "stump". We swung by my house to pick up Beth. We all went to lunch before Silverdiesel finally called FITS V officially over. Thanks everyone!!! Beth and I had a great time and we couldn't of asked for a better weekend. Special thanks to Neatus and his crew for putting together a fun AZ LOST JEEPS event!! Here's a few pics I took: Silverdiesl leading me through Box Canyon... Some of the guys watching Edwin squeeze his big Jeep through a tight spot.... Silverdiesel's first morning cup of coffee provided by moi.... Neatus' monster KJ.... Roland and Beth at lunch. I take my wife and friends to only the best places in town... Burger Shoppe on Van Buren and 27 Ave!! |

I love that spot also Actually I think this would be a better comparison: Every time I see a picture of someone climbing that rock in a Libby I think of the AZ club sticker |

Yup, Vern was even holding the sticker up when I was climbing that rock and he feels that Dan threw and extra cactus into the sticker |

Neatus wrote: Yup, Vern was even holding the sticker up when I was climbing that rock and he feels that Dan threw and extra cactus into the sticker Hey, if National Geographic can rearrange the pyramids on their cover why worry about a li'l cactus? Personally I think it was just to make it have more of an 'Arizona' feel... |

Rocks and metal valve stems are always an issue. If you don't have a TPMS go to the short rubber valve stems. If you do it's going to happen again. If you don't mind the start up warning from the TPS, change them all. If you do a lot of rock crawling you might put some valve stems in your trail bag. Not real hard to change out if you have a high lift so you can break the bead. |
