By the way wife and dog are coming with.

DIRECTIONS:

From Evansville or Terre Haute
Take HWY 41 to Interstate 64 Exit 25
Go east on I- 64 to Lynnville (SR 61) Exit 39
Turn left (north) on State Road 61
To the first 4-way stop (Intersection of State Road 61 & 68)
Turn right (east) on to State Road 68
Travel approximately 3.2 miles east. The entrance is on the north side of the road. If you past the area on the north side of road that is a large equipment training area you just went by the entrance to Interlake. It is currently marked with a green reclamation project sign and Interlake rule signs on both sides of the entrance.

The Interlake property was unique to me since it was pretty much just a turn off the road and get to it type place. The only thing that let you know you had arrived was a sign from the DNR. Overall, the park is HUGE and was too much to see in just a day. Most of the trials are tight just enough room for the KJ to get through. This park is mainly used by quads however I did see two other jeeps there. As far a rock gardens I could not find them (if there is any). The map supplied by the DNR website was only alittle helpful. This park does offer a whole other experience than say a place like the badlands. I would go back and plan too. Some spots in the park were tricky to navigate around due to mudholes and me being by myself, I really did want to risk getting stuck. (not to mention I didn't meet anyone on the trails only on the main road in the park). Trails are marked with numbers but really mean nothing cause they are not listed on any map. And they are marked easy to hard, but again due to rutting and quad usage those signs really mean nothing either. This park is like the wild west. Its really not regulated and is on the honor system for usage, but it is free.

Here are some pics.

Need to plan a weekend trip in September or so. Whats the biggest town close by and any hotels nearby?
I know you can't stay there but with it being 7 - 8 hours for me I would need to stay, looks like fun and I am sure some spots it would be good to have at least another Jeep around

Closest town with places to stay would be Boonville. Its about 20 miles south. The town that the off-road park is located in is just a small town with a four way stop.
