After considering all options and running numerous trails and scouting locations AZ LOST JEEPS has come up with a plan and has set scheduled locations and trails that can accomidate all types of offroad vehicles from stock/mild to highly modified.
Thanks to all members who contributed and thanks to the ones who ran some of these considered trails and locations. I ran alot of them myself but hey, somebodys got to do the dirty work! 8)

Criteria needed and to be followed is
) A sort of central location but this is a big state! I even suggested running in Mexico by RP but that was "Shot" down fast.
)A good central campsite with facilities including showers and where "Trumpets" can be played without offending anyone and close to nearby inexpensive hotel and city amenities (for noncampers). Said campsite needs to be Chili Festival and costume party friendly .
) Near by modified and stocker trails that would be worth the drive and that maybe you have never been on before.
)Guarenteed fun for all, family friendly but we all talk Jeeps here. And of course any appropiate 4WD truck or SUV graciously welcomed.

Drum roll...................

When: October 22, 23, 24 2010

Where: Dead Horse State Park, Cottonwood, AZ The club has already reserved a section of the private loop where as part of the deal restrooms with showers are provided(real nice as I have been there before)

What trails: What appears to be final is : Modified, Smiley Rock, Jerome, Az and Mingus Mountain with portions of the Perkinsville trail. Stock, North side of Mingus Mountain, Jerome, Az with awesome views of the Verde Valley floor and San Francisco Peaks. Time permiting other trails may be added. Sunday trails- Sedona Red Rock passes trails considered such as Broken Arrow.

Events: The always great and highly anticipated Chili cookoff and festival and our annual Costume event (very entertaining) and of course great camping.

Details: Necessary stuff like State park camp fees, day passes and who is coming list is up coming. One of our club members paid a deposit fee to the State Park System to lock in this great camp site and club funds will reimburse him but when we get a more definite total participant list we can get a camping fee structure out but it will NOT be expensive. Day visitors staying in town can be charged a day fee but this and camp fees is all only to offset park use fees. Again $ to be announced. Other details to come.

This is going to be great folks!! If Smiley Rock is a guage on how the rest of the TorJ is going to be -- this is one for the record books!

BTW When scouting for T or J 2010, Prerunning these trails from the great desert around Yuma to the rugged mountains south of Kingman was absolutely fantastic and I had a wonderful time. I saw scenery and places I never seen before and this prerunning stuff is lots of fun so I am glad I had the chance.

Please PM me or AZKJ for any more details but participant lists and camp pass fees will be TBA soon. If you have any other feedback or suggestions feel free to contact. But for sure plan on this one as it will be fun.

Roland

Clear and consise directions and comviences right nearby for necessary things. It does not get any better than this!.

Hey Scott!
We are open all night!!
Just don't forget to bring a bundle of firewood so Vern won't go raiding some lumberyard somewhere!
And All:
See you this weekend !! The modified run will be lots of fun and there is something for everyone as Jerome is hosting ghostown walks, and a reopening of the state park there with a new museum!

Again, as a reminder, Fee Structure:

Since we have to pay a fee to get part of the private loop, Raven Loop, a fee structure is set:

Camping per nite per vehicle : $15 ($30 weekend)

Day use Per vehicle : $7

This is payable to any club officer and goes strictly to cover park fees.
But what you get is Frist Class Campground Diggs, fully secure with a restroom / shower private to this Raven Loop. And we get solitude to have our festivities late into the nite!! These are open sites (tent type sites) with water avail nearby (nix carring extra water).

See you tomorrow!

Roland
