Trick or Jeep 2010 is still a long way off, but we wanted to get the preliminaries out of the way and find a great location that offers really good camping and trails for this year's event.

If you have any ideas, or suggestions as to where you would like to see Trick or Jeep 2010 held this year, please post your ideas here. Silverdiesel and myself will be scouting and pre running locations through the end of July. We'd like to get the location selected so camp arrangements can be made well in advance and also give everyone enough notice so they can make plans to attend.

I'm familiar with a lot of trails around Arizona, but Silverdiesel and I would still like to scout and pre run your suggestion with you, so keep that in mind when posting your ideas. If you have a good idea but can't make a pre run, we'll still try to check it out.

Our ideal location for Trick or Jeep 2010 should have:

- a good campground that won't put too many restrictions on our late night activities
- be large enough to accommodate everyone and be somewhat secluded from other campers
- lodging within a reasonable distance from camp to accommodate non-campers
- two trails... one for stock vehicles and one for modified rigs OR an interesting trail with just the right amount of challenges that will be fun for everyone.

I'll add your suggestions to this post and get with you to schedule a date for a pre run. Anyone is welcome to join us on the pre runs. Note... most of the pre runs will be held on a Friday or a Sunday due to Silverdiesel's work schedule... stupid work!!!

After all the scouting and pre runs are done, Silverdiesel and I will submit our recommendations to the Club Officer's. They can either pick the trail and location, or make a poll to let everyone vote for where we want to hold Trick or Jeep 2010.

Trail Suggestions:

Big Eye Mine - Castle Dome Mountains (rated medium)
Location: Yuma, AZ (Kofa National Wildlife Refuge)
Pre run Date: 4-10-2010 - Completed
Features: Travel through rugged parts of the Kofa NWR to the Big Eye Mine, perhaps catching a glimpse of a variety of wildlife which incluses desert bighorn sheep, mule deer, coyote, bobcat, fox and golden eagles.
Suggested by: 2006KJSPORT4x4

Hualapai Mountains (rated medium)
Location: Kingman, AZ
Pre run Date: 4-22/23-2010 - Completed
Features: A very scenic drive on a classic narrow, rocky, shelf mining road with some climbs and steep vertical drop offs. Elevation is just over 6.000 feet. There's also a short side trip to the giant Boriana Mine.

I will try and think of something cool. Most of the trails I know of are not near any civilization nor do they have the foofoo camp grounds. If I come up with something I will let you know. Also, I may be able to do a Friday prerun with you all.

You got it, any Friday scouting missions and I'll be sure you know about.

Something cool is good!!

Speaking of "foofoo" and primitive camping... I just created a poll to see if it matters what kind of campground people would prefer. No use scouting primitive places if everyone wants "foofoo" Also, having lodging nearby would be nice.

Let me and Roland know what trail you have in mind, and we'd like to pre-run it with you. Friday's and Sunday's work best for Roland, it doesn't matter to me.

I don't need no stinking frou-frou campgrounds. Camping on the beach would be way cool!

Okay... a beach sounds good. Any ideas of a trail that's on the beach and are you going to do a pre-run?

Thanks Scott!! The Big Eye Mine trail was a fun trail and even tho Wells rates it medium, it was stocker friendly. Standing by for a modified trail... let us know when, and we'll be out to run it with you.

Come on folks... help us out here. We need your trail suggestions or other ideas on where you'd like to see Trick or Jeep held this year.

Thanks,
AJ

There was the part of Cherry Creek Road that has been unexplored that runs east of Young and is accessed thru a fire service road off of the Young Hwy 10 or so miles south of the town. When we hit Cherry Creek Road we will head north.
AJ and I had found a primitive camp site we nicked named "Los Dos Gringos" near by and that can act as the associated campground. This site has no restrooms or any thing but it looked to be a cool spot to camp. Sort of like Cochise Stronghold a couple of years ago.

Meet up at Shell Station at 0830 in Gold Canyon.
Sunday May 16th
If you wish, chime in and state your intensions, otherwise see you there!!
This part of Cherry Creek Road should be rated as 1.0 to 2.0 (easy).
This will be an all day run~ pack a lunch!

Cherry Creek Postphoned!!!

I ran into a safety issue causing a 1 day delay on this run. :o

Postphoned till Monday 5/17 ~~ same place , same channel. :)

If this causes inconveince to anyone, apologies are extended but, Hey, safety comes first and the run continues, only for the next day.
