Howdy from San Antonio, TX All,

I have a Factory 2006 Jeep Liberty. No modifications or gizmos. Can my Jeep handle the Moab event?
What additions/modifications/equipment is mandatory? What is recommended?

Going to depend on the trails they run. Anything over a 2.5 and you will struggle based on my experience there last year. A lift is extremely helpful along with decent rubber. Also need tow points. Others that have also been there can suggest mods.

We had a stock CRD run Pastafari with us last year stock tires and all the only change they had were heavy duty skid plates along with sliders. They only struggled a few times and only got stuck once but with a good spotter and you will have very few problems. Oh and good front and rear recovery points are a must.

Like audioboy has suggested, skids and sliders will help you out alot on most of the trails. A lift would get you through just about everything we will be doing. Recovery points front and rear are a must. We will have plenty of members who have been coming to Moab for a long time and will be able to help you through anything we come across. And if you don't feel comfortable you are welcome to ride along with someone for the day. Moab is an incredible place to see with lots of different activities to do if you choose not to wheel. Just come on out, you will have a blast with a great group of people!

Thanks for the initial info. Now I'm going to ask you to break it down to Barney-Level.

Reference: Skid Plates - is the full complement of skid plates required, i.e. Engine, X-fer Case, Gas Tank, Transmission and Differential Skid Plates? If not, which ones are mandatory, Which ones can I get away without?

From my experience the engine/transmission (usually comes as one if I recall correctly) and transfer case skids are a must (in that order). The gas tank skid is important, but honestly I only recall a handful of scratches on mine and most of those came from a local offroad park and not Moab. If you like the rocker panels of your Jeep definitely get rock rails and if you get ones with the step/bar then that's even better as it will keep the side of your Jeep away from the rocks and will keep people's doors away from the side of your Jeep too.

If you need a rear tow hook I have one you can have. Just pay shipping which I'd estimate at $8 to Texas. PM me if you're interested in the hook.

meduncan Thanks for the offer,

I already ordered a rear tow pintle last night.
I'll have to start gathering pieces month by month.

Well the mopar skids are cheap and plentiful and easily fixed especially the transmission smash up flip over and repeat. And a rear differential cover never hurts not really required but can't hurt.
