Hey when I was in Germany - a new Fiat was good for 2 years, 3 max before the body rusted enough that it wouldn't pass German inspection.

but the engines were great, twin cam 4 valve/cylinder - fun.

(we did a couple of swaps - Fiat engine into Mazda RX2 - the first gen Mazda rotary engines died in about 30k mile
they'd pass inspection on base - it was a really neat combo)

Would be about the same then since the old Dodge and Plymouths would rust out in a few years but the slant 6's and 318 would run through 3 or 4 bodies

Rot through in 3 years? Sounds like an old Toyota pickup

Wonder if Toyota would be up for selling rolling chassis pickups so you can pull the drivetrain out of the rotted out holy old piece of crap and put it in a new truck.

That would be neat.

I do kind of like the Fiat 500. Don't make fun of me. And Alfa Romeos are SWEET cars!

On the business news this morning (01/20/09) they said that ChryCo and Fiat sign papers for a partneship. Fiat now had 33%.

Edit: Oops 35% not 33.... http://www.allpar.com/news/index.php/20 ... -chrysler/

yep, fiat owns 35%. and there is talk of them buying daimlers 19.9% which would make chrysler no longer an american company. (maybe thats BS idk) but i heard fiat was going to produce the chasis and driveline while chrysler did the body and such, because fiat is rated #1 for fuel milage and and low emissions.
