What is your suggestion, we will be driving up in a minivan this november from the cruise pier to vicinity of the theme parks.
It will be a sunday drive, so I assume there will be certain amount of traffic, since I never drove that section before, what is your suggestion?

What kind of train options will I have? I would still need to get to train station from the pier, plus we are 4 people (and will be 6 when I get to Orlando), which helps when we split the rental cost. I got 3 days rental with unlimited mileage for $260

i am not sure what the train cost or if you would have to change trains but the tracks run parralel to the cost and would only be a short cab ride i live a in ft lauderdale so im a little north of miami also if you do drive try to get a garmin or other gps every thing runs parellel to eachother so if you hit trafic on you can switch to the turnpike if you dont have sun pass you will be better off with 95 other wise you will have to stop and pay tolls ever 20 minuts and they are often exact change only with out a sun pass ezzy pass dose not work down here yet

No EZ pass? Crap.. :)
OK, no problem, I will then stay on 95, I will eventually have to take 91 as I approach but it sure beats stopping every 20 minutes to go by tolls...
And for exact change, don't they sell roll of exact-change-tokens at the first entrance or some place.. we used to get those when we went to Atlantic City and when EZ Pass did not exist..

if you hit traffic you can get off drive nothe on like us1 or 441 then get back on 95 in a few mils

Drive both at the same time.

Watch out for the Florida Drift! That happens when doing 65 or 70, the idiot is on the inside lane and has 50 yard to his exit. He just shoots across to the exit.

Another fair warning: with states having lower income from taxes etc. they are looking for ways to make money. Citations work very well!

I would say suck it up, pay the tolls and take 91 and you will still probably get there faster. I-95 in FL used to be a drag (not as much as it is in the NE, but still a drag) and unless they have resurfaced it in the past few years (which they may have), the Turnpike (91) will probably be in better shape.

The Turnpike goes right through St. Cloud and Kissimmee (where the moderately more affordable accommodations are) and since the parks are West of the airport and south of Orlando proper, so it makes sense to get on it at some point anyway.

Have fun, and yes, as stated previously, drivers in FL are "special" in many ways...
