My parents are looking for a second vehicle and my Liberty has a bad leak that I don't want to sink a lot of money in to. Anyway, considering giving them my Liberty and picking up a used Wrangler. This one is for sale near me. It's a 2008 X with the package that gives you the power windows, cruise, locks, A/C, upgraded seats and top, and has the upgraded 4-disc stereo with the sub in the back. 6-speed manual with only 17K miles. They are asking $20,000 for it which seems high to me. Condition looks great and love the low miles, but I think original MSRP on these was only like $24K or so.

Can you give me an opinion on this vehicle and on the price?

That's what I figured, but it is in great shape and only 17K miles

what would be a reasonable price for this car?

Youre looking for a car now? I thought we were talking about a jeep?

Yeah that does look like a very nice jeep and the mileage is great, but I garauntee you when you buy a $24k jeep it goes well bellow $20k just driving it off the lot with less mileage. Honestly a fair price would probably be in the range of $18k I would think.

LOL, good point about the "car", I should know better!

I was thinking of offering $16K (which they won't take) and negotiating from there.

They sent me a "special internet price" of $19,750 (wow, $250 whole dollars off!). I replied price was way too high but we could talk.

My Liberty needs somewhere in the vicinity of $1,000 in repairs right now that I just don't feel like doing. Always wanted a Wrangler so why not....

The 2012 Wrangler is coming out in a bit with the 3.6L engine and I'm sure that will cause the 3.8L to go down a bit. If you can wait, I'd wait. Also, I think the prices on Wranglers is always a little more in the summer, sort of like buying an AC unit in the summer time vs the winter time.

Honestly if he can wait getting the much better 3.6 pentastar would be the best option. A heck of alot more power and fuel mileage.

I don't want a new one. I'm looking for something in the mid to upper teens tops.

Started out wanted in a new GC but the prospect of spending $45K on a vehicle plus the fact that my wife already owns a 2011 loaded Highlander made me start to look in a different direction.

I love Jeeps and love drop-tops so figured this would be a fun vehicle to own especially since we already have the kid hauler with the Toyota. This car would be more for the fun of it

Oh you have kids? I would definitely look again at larger vehicle as there are larger jeeps that can be both fun and haul a family. If top down is a must look at the JK unlimited as they have a good bit of room for kids.

OK you convinced me, even though I said I wouldn't buy a new one.....

Just put a deposit on a 2012 Wrangler today. Should be delivered in about eight weeks. :pepper:
