As a professional truck driver, I make it a point to try to adhere to the law. We are held to a higher standard than "John Q. Public" because it's what we do for a living, and the officers do take that into consideration.
I work in Elk Grove IL, (just outside of Chicago, and borders O'Hare Int Airport) the biggest commecial/industrialwharehousing town in Central USA. I also have to drive through the residential side of EGV to get to work. EGV is also known as "the town that never, ever turns off their radar guns". Twice in the last 3 years I've been pulled over (in the KJ) on the way to work for doing 32MPH in a 25MPH zone. I've been nothing but polite and courteous. Twice I've received a written warning, which I understand is a rarity in this town. The letters "CDL" may have a little sway in the officers thinking, or so I hope. Professional courtesy can go a long way.
