Post subject: ESR responds to Microsoft Job offers

Since I hang out here a lot more now, there's a posting you might enjoy. It's ESR's response to a job offer from Microsoft. Hilarious stuff.

http://esr.ibiblio.org/index.php?p=208

Gems from the response:

"... couldn't get a clue if it were pounded into you with baseball bats."

"... on the day I go to work for Microsoft, faint oinking sounds will be heard from far overhead, the moon will not merely turn blue but develop polkadots, and hell will freeze over so solid the brimstone will go superconductive."

Eric S. Raymond, the guy who wrote an effective "manifesto" of the open-source movement ("The Cathedral and the Bazaar") which puts into simple terms the differences in the two models of software development (so-called "closed source" development vs. "open source" development). Another one of his essay title "Homesteading in the Noosphere" was also interesting to read, if in distinctly different style from the CaB.
