I heard that too, but don't remember where. I thought it was because of the size, low mileage, and price. The demand just wasn't there after gas went up.

The demand was never there, they tried everything to get people to buy them. Girl up the street that works at the Jeep plant here in Toledo said they begged her to lease one, just to get them out there and off the lots.

I can't tell the difference between the Liberty and the Commander. I say just add the Hemi as an option on the Liberty and you got a Commander.

I drove one for 4 days, they are very different from the Libby's, but I really didn't like it and couldn't come to terms on the sale. The dealership at that time was trying to get rid of them, but not hard enough...............

I have been hearing for some time now they were getting discontinued. All I can say is "see yea". Jeep needs to go back to just a few models and quit trying to have a copy of every Dodge that is made. They need to be original, that is why even with gas prices the JK's are selling well.

Does anyone know if they have any plans for another vehicle that seats more than 5?

You can seat more than 5 people in the Libby. Just put a couple people in the back behind the rear seat, problem solved  . (There's a story behind that)

just go buy a Commander now if you want one that big, dealer here in town advertising them at 30,500, sticker price of 45,000, save almost 15000 right off the bat! And thats before you start dealing and he wants to move them , must have 50 or 60 sitting around with weeds growing up around them

I was talking about the KK (2008 Liberty). From the outside they look very similar. The only difference is the HEMI and the 3rd row seating.

I was also thinking about adding a Commander to my personal line-up. I need more cargo space on my family trips (1 child and 1 on the way). The KJ fills up far too quickly when hauling baby/children's gear. I also think that they have potential to look pretty sweet with bigger tires and a few other slight mods.

It and the old Cherokee are already unibody aka "car like". People are just don't understand.

Look for the new one around 2010.

I think ‘09 is the last model year for the Commander………….. The new Cherokee is suppose to be very much like a car type, a completely different platform and much worse than now. I’ve heard the only Jeep that is really selling is the Wrangler, and even those have greatly slowed due to the turn of the economy and people moving towards a fuel efficient engine. Fuel efficiency is the new fad now, therefore Chrysler as well as other auto manufactures are having to revamp their entire line-ups and move up production dates.
