If your fan belt breaks while you're on a trail and have not brought a spare with you, a snake can be used for this particular repair.

We had to get one of the g/fs to donate a nylon to get us home one night years ago. '72 Duster 318. Worked like a charm. 8)
That poor snake must be right addled!
