Post subject:  LOST luggage on the way to Tanzania

Just venting here so no replys are needed
BUT my wife had to return to Tanzania for two years since our dear State Department thought she needed to go home, being married to an American and teaching at Harvard is not a good enough reason to stay here
BUT
heres my gripe of the day.
You are allowed 2 pieces of luggage that weigh up to 50 lbs ( plus your carry on) and then you can pay for extra luggage up to 70 lbs each for $150 per bag. So I take her to Detroit last night pay the $150 per bag for 3 bags, (450 total) they put all kinds of tape on them, names , destination etc .
She flys from Detroit to Amsterdam, then on to Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania ( 17 hours on a plane by the way) gets off and is waiting for her luggage and then finds out they have lost two of the 70 lb bags (suit cases) and one of the 50 lb ones

Now they want a detailed list of everything in each bag, colors of clothing, shoes, etc. Now not sure about some women but with my wife and her 100 pairs of shoes etc I have no idea where the heck to start and what was in each bag!
So Thank you KLM Airlines

OK RANT IS OVER!!!!!!!!!

I have to start the paper work (AGAIN!! have done it twice at a cost of 1500 filing fees etc. each time ) in about 6 months and then it will take from 9 months to a year to go through, but basically two years before she returns.
So lots of vacation time flying back and forth for me. But we have bought a chunk of land there and I will be designing a home and starting to build it while there, so it may work out.
Since we stay non political on here I will not get into how stupid I think our immigration works here

Yes, makes you wonder why those doing it right can't stay but others can.

I'd love to go to Africa.

Sorry to hear of the insult to injury in this experience Tom. Best of luck when it comes to getting the paperwork and dealing with the red tape.

Too bad we don't have any corrupt politicians that are member of LOST...

Well, we do, but I get the feeling that he will be stepping down as governor soon, and we already lost our LOST governor in new york.

I just need to know which one will take my money and get the paperwork done before Johnny Law catches them for doing illegal things

^^^^^^ Mud is the answer..........

But now we will have a place to stay for a road trip ( ) to Africa!

I just feel bad that you want your wife to stay & she has to leave. I want mine to go to Africa for at least 2 years & she won't.
