Post subject:  Getting harassed by Sirius..

Ok, long story short - I bought my dad a car back in like April. Car came with 6 months of free Sirius service. Service expired. No desire to renew service.

Now for the complaining:
Sirius called when service expired. I said "I am not interested in renewing the service. Please put me on your 'do not call list'". All is well and good for a few weeks, then another call. Told then same thing. No calls for a few more weeks. Then on the 13th, phone rings, I answer and 'click', autodialer hangs up on me. I call back and speak to Omar. Tell him I am not interested, yadda, yadda, yadda. I also inform him that they are calling a cell phone and can be held accountable for any and all charges to my account as a result of their calls (not sure if thats still true, though, Dems may have changed it). He says he will make a note on my account to stop calling me. Last night (16th), I see a missed call. Recognizing the number, I call back and speak to Chris. Give him the same speach. He says he will make the note in BOLD letters so they stop calling me. Today, I get a call from Joseph (I think). Says he is calling to inform me of some offers on behalf of Sirius. I tell him to save his breath, inform him that he has just become the fifth person from Sirius that I have told to put me on the Do Not Call list, and inform him that I will be forced to take legal action if they do not stop with what has now become harassment.

So.. Sorry about the long rant, but short of taking a road-trip to Sirius and stopping them in person, any suggestions?

Thank you.

Tell them to delete the phone number from your profile?
It's strange. I have had Sirius for several years and have never received a call from them. I'll get an email every now and then, but that's about it.

Ha.. I never thought of that, but since they cant seem to make a notation to not call me, I wouldnt hold my breath for them being able to delete my number.

My number has been on the national DNC registry sinse 2003, but since I have an existing business relationship (EBR) with Sirius, they are allowed to still call me until I tell them to put me on their do not call list, which I have now done five times.

Im just getting aggravated. Maybe the term 'legal action' that I used this last call will somehow help them to figure out how to make a note to not call me anymore.

unfortunately this has been my experience with sirius, they make it very difficult to discontinue service and end up harassing you at the same time.

Great business practice huh?

Same here. And fwiw, I couldn't live without my Sirius.

As for the DNC, I could be wrong but I thought back in 2006 / 07 people had to re-register from the original submission. I may be incorrect on the dates but I know for a fact DNC is not a life-time deal.

Well, according to the DNC website, it is in fact lifetime, or until a person chooses to be removed.. Regardless, they are showing me as on it still.

It doesnt affect this, though, as I had an EBR with Sirius.. The problem lies in the fact that I requested (5 times now) to be put on Sirius DNC list, and by law they are no longer allowed to call me as my request nullifies their right to call me from the EBR. (Yeah, Ive done a lot of research - they call me again, I get my lawyers involved, which I actually could have done the first time they called after I told them to stop).

I dare either of you to cancel your subscription, and I bet you will start getting harassed..

Then that has changed since the recent update notification published to all America that if you were on the original list, your name & number expired and you had to resubmit yourself. If it has changed, great.

Sorry, as I said, I wouldn't go back to FM radio to save my life.

Thats cool.. I actually didnt expect anyone to cancel because I said so, but the reason you arent getting harassed is because you are still a subscriber - that is what I was trying to convey.

Im not that big on listening to music when Im driving, and thats just me.. But, the Sirius is/was on my dads car, so I never even used it.

This thread was more just to vent, and thank you everyone for letting me do that, but at least I know Im not the only one who has been harassed when trying to cancel their service.

If you like it, then awesome - Im sure I would too if I used it.

i heard that if you disco the service and then disco the unit for a month or so that when you hook it back up that it will work still. and you dont have to pay for it. again this is something i heard. dont have one.

Good luck with getting rid of Sirius. I hope they're better than Sprint. I canceled my Sprint account and they kept sending me bills for the service, even though the phone was disconnected. After I finally (20 calls) got them to stop sending me phony bills, they started sales calling me. I threatened them with legal action and pointed out that I'm on the DNC list and they finally stopped calling.

That phone is scheduled for use at the local skeet range as soon as I catch the range-master not looking. BLAM! I will never do business with Sprint again.

I have 2 accounts with sirius, and when I sold the TJ in March, it just happened to be during the same month as when the subscription was up. I called them up, told them I sold the jeep, turn the service off so they wouldn't automatically bill my credit card. Things were fine until about August when the other sirius was to expire. I was looking at my credit card statement and saw big charge from them. Looked up my sirius account online, went to the billing history, and saw that they reactivated the account in the TJ. I guess they thought they could just tag it on there and I wouldn't check.

my witch right now is with Dish Network. They call 3 times a day, and just willn't stop. The lady just keeps talking and talking and talking. I either don't answer because I have caller ID, or hand the phone to my 2 year old and let them work it out. Or just put the phone down on the counter and come back 15-20 minutes later.

Call THEM 3 or 4 times a day since you have their number and remind them to remove you off their call list. Do this all all different hours and sooner or later they will ask YOU to stop calling them!
