I think you will find that those to entities combined about the time that Cerebus bought Chrysler.

If that were true then why would the Bloomberg link above contain this statement?

The Cerebus/CF/GMAC deal was fairly widely reported. I guess Bloomberg ranks up there with WIKI for reliability?
