So I had an old RCA 52" projection TV that stopped powering on Last January (2008). I contacted Gene's TV in January 2008 to fix my TV. They promptly came and picked it up (they offered to come pick it up on a Sunday when their business is not usually open for the standard $40 fee) The TV would not power on. They fixed the TV and returned it to me that same week. Cost me $200 for the Repair. The TV worked for a day and a half and then the picture turned completely green. I called them to tell them that they broke something else when they fixed the power supply. They agreed that they would fix the color problem and would come back and pick up the TV. I had to call them numerous times over the next 6 months before they finally came to pick it up. Then I never heard from them. After a few weeks, I began calling them. They said, "It will be done on Friday." Then the part supposedly did not come in. Then next Friday - over and over. Finally they admitted that they could not get the part they needed to fix my TV and offered to replace it with another TV of the same size that was working. By this time it was October 2008. I agreed for them to bring me a replacement TV. I have since been told over 40 different times that they would deliver it on a specific time/date, and it has never been delivered, and they never call me to cancel. The business phone number is almost always forwarded to the cell phone of one of the employees. His name is Marcus. Marcus now avoids my calls unless I block my number with *67. I have talked to Gene the owner, and his wife a couple of times, and they have both told me that it would be taken care of that week. It never has. I even have an alarm set on my phone that reminds me to call them every day. I have called them over and over and over day after day after day. They just continue to lie to me. I would just like to either have a working TV returned to me, or have the initial pickup and delivery charge plus the $216 repair fee refunded. I am just tired of calling them and never getting any resolution. I have made literally hundreds of calls to them. I feel I have been beyond patient. I would go pick up the TV myself if 1 - I had a truck to carry it, 2 - I thought they actually had a TV to give me, and 3 - thought they would actually be at the business when I showed up to get my TV. But since the repair shop is about 40 miles from my house, I have not tried to go to the business myself yet. At this point, I am past the frustrated stage, and the Mad stage. I just call them over and over to be a nuisance in hopes that some day they will actually bring me a TV or refund my money. I finally filed a complaint with the BBB today. Maybe that will get it going. Any other pointers? Besides force... I am a 6'6" 250 pound big ole boy, but Marcus makes me look like a peon... LOL Any lawyers want to write a nasty letter to them for me? |

No legal advice - but to the 'if I had a truck' - I've carried some large loads in the Libby - with the rear seat folded forward There's a lot of room back there - would fit just about any TV I've seen. doesn't help with 2) or 3) |

Yep. It is actually too wide to even fit in the back of the suburban with the seats out/down. But I did get an update yesterday after posting. I did my normal call to see if they were going to bring me a TV today... And Marcus tells me he is having some trouble with the TV he was going to give me as a replacement. Hmmmm. And you were going to give me a replacement 3 months ago. But He says he has a TV that will probably be better for me and for him. It is a 2005 Sony HD widescreen. I say great. That's fine. Then he says it is a much better TV and I'd have to pay an additional $250 for it. I laughed, said nope, and told him to have Gene, the owner call me to get this solved. I figure I will get a call when Gene gets the letter from BBB. |
