Is there another area I should go to to ask about tech problems with the message board software?

I'm not getting notices for PM's received. The e-mail notice and full screen pop-up options are checked on my profile, but I got a PM recently and neither notice method worked.

Also, I can't stay logged in to the forum. I've checked the box on the log in dialog but I still have to log in every time I access a member feature. Even if I leave the forum up and running, there is some sort timing thing that makes me log in again if I try to post several hours after my last activity.

Without knowing what OS and Browser you're using it can be difficult to track down the problem.
To Start: Have you enabled cookies or Private Browsing? Double checked your settings for notification on the Profile Page?

Hi, thanks for helping. I'm using IE 7.0 and Windows XP Pro 5.1.2600.

I belong to several other discussion groups and the auto-login works with all of those sites.

I went into the Tools>Internet Options menu to verify that I have cookies enabled, and i was unable to find that item - where is it? I thought I had seen it before on the Advanced page but I don't see it now. Anyhow, I'm certain I have it turned on since all those other sites work the same way.

I've checked my profile page and I have check marks in the boxes for Yes next to Notify on new PM and Pop Up on new PM.

Any suggestions?

Well that's all I got. Swore off Windows years ago. Sorry but someone else will chime in.

I can't think of what it's called on IE right now because I'm on my Mac right now and not my work PC, but you probably need to clear your cache. It might be called "Reset" or "Clear," but it's in your IE preferences panel. You'll see "Clear..." on two or three things, one of which should be your Cache.

Thanks, that did the trick. I deleted all my cache, cookies and content, then went back to the site and checked the box to log in automatically. After the first log in, it started to work like it was supposed to. Only downside is now I have to log in the first time I visit all the other sites I have passwords for, but it's a good exercise to be sure I have all the other passwords recorded somewhere.

Most of the current browsers will give you the option of having them store passwords so you don't have to remember them, and there is usually a link in the 'tools' menu to be able to display them in case you forget them. I wouldn't have my bank or other sensitive passwords saved but for forums and such it's a nice feature.
