considered that your spacebar is simply broken or that the retainer tab has fell down on the spacebar detent sensor? been eating chips around your computer lately? :P

pop your spacebar up with a paperclip get any crap out from under it and put it back on and try it again

He says he has an Inspiron E1505 which is a laptop so he can't go unplugging the keyboard. Compressed air to blow out any debris, or else replace the keyboard.

If you want to get nitty gritty about it and it's under warranty send it in.. if it's out of warranty your looking at $50 or so for a new keyboard module to be put in it.. or you can always get one of those roll-up keyboards for it.. those seem to be pretty popular with Laptops these days..
